As expected then: no real changes, just different paint and higher prices. Advanced Pro Frameset has been available in Europe/UK for the last couple of years at least.sib wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 9:41 amThe 2023 Giant line-up has been announced for Japan.

Has anyone built 2021 Advanced SL frame with rim brake?
www.giant-bicycles.com/us/tcr-advanced-sl-frameset-2021
If I'm not mistaken the 2020 frame was ~700 grams.

I have that exact frameset in M. I think it was 830 g for the frame. Black carbon was 700 something I think. My complete bike is around 6.5 kgmpulsiv wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 6:17 pmHas anyone built 2021 Advanced SL frame with rim brake?

Beautiful ride. Keep the rim brakes alive!bobones wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 8:04 pmI have that exact frameset in M. I think it was 830 g for the frame. Black carbon was 700 something I think. Paint job for 2023 frame is Sincity. Might be a marginally lighter than Astral Aura (your paint job).

I'd like to get myself one of these frames but can't find one. I'll keep looking

Mine is betterIvanZg wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 5:19 pmI belive it's a cover from previous generation of tcr that used round spacers. It sais overdrive on it...
Anyhow you can use canyon's top cover but you'll have to shim it in order to preload the bearings properly. Without the shim top cap will just lock the bearing.

Postman came by today!
Next summer's bike and my once in a decade 'good bike' purchase.
- TCR Advanced SL frameset L in Raw Carbon (2022)
Build Plans:
- Ultegra 8170 Di2
- Zipp 303 Firecrest or Enve Foundation 45 wheels
- Continental GP5000s 28mm tyres
- Fizik saddle
- Contact SL OD2 110mm stem
- Prime alloy bars (not a fan of carbon, prefer the feel of 7075 alloy)
Will be picking up the components over the winter as savings allow.
Really love my TCR Advanced Disc 3 which I bought earlier this year. It's much heavier and less well specc'd than my current good bike (Felt Fr1 Dura Ace 9000 mech) but I find I'm consistently faster on my usual route on the Giant - stiffer, holds speed better so I'm not too bothered about weight with the SL as it will be considerably lighter than the 3.
It's going to be a long winter...
(will do weights of the parts as I get them!)

Just got a bargain on a brand new frameset from one of these:
https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes ... sc-review/
Building a...er slightly extravagant commuter but stumped by one of the parts in the small parts bag.
Any idea what the thing on the right is? It came in a little bag with a section of 3m vhb tape too. The seatpost wedge on the left is for scale only.
For the record the frame/fork with all removable parts removed (incl. removing mech hangers) weighs 892/408, minimum viable set of hangers, wedge, plugs caps etc. weighs a further 80g. No idea how accurate my scales are at higher weights but always seem to agree with small stuff

Actually, two changes I noticed: SLR 1 36 wheels instead of 42. Power Pro powermeter back for Ultegra Di2.bobones wrote: ↑Sun Sep 11, 2022 5:21 pmAs expected then: no real changes, just different paint and higher prices.
