I tried both a normal (cheap) 11 speed chain tool, and a mini chain tool on topeak mini 20 pro which is claimed to be NOT including Campagnolo® 11 speed hollow pin chains. They can all deal with 11 speed campy record chain well.

I had the Park Tool, possibly an earlier version than 4.3, and found it was very poor at joining Campag chain as it does not lock the chain in position.

On the other hand I can give a strong recommend for the BBB ProfiConnect BTL55. Despite a low price it's solidly made. It has a screw-in mini anvil that secures the chain in position and that is key to driving in the new pin. You can turn the anvil round to present a blank face that supports the inserted pin for peening. There's even a little wire clip for holding a loop of chain against derailleur tension.

I have the campy tool, but don't use it much. I like to remove the chain for a proper cleaning at some point, so I might as well use a quick link to start with. The wipperman link is pricey, but easiest to deal with.

Just about any tool will work to shorten the chain.

The Abbey chain tool will also close a Campy chain I believe, I have one but haven't used it for that yet. It is also expensive however (and very nice).

If you live in the EU the Rohloff Revolver 3 is currently pretty nicely discounted (~ 115 EUR) at German hibike.de and r2-bike.com
It's still on the more expensive side, however better than usually so might be worth reconsideration.

I have a Lezyne chain tool that does the peening on campy chains. It worked fine but came with no instructions (none to be found on their web site either and no response from their support email).

I would go with any 12 speed breaker, and then a 12 speed quick link. It's a better solution. There are a few thread here about 12 speed quick links.

Also those tools are about 1/2 to 3/4 the price of the campy tool. maybe save up for it? I have the campy tool and it's very nice : )

While I rarely deal with Campagnolo any more, the Chain tools are worth the cost. We have 10 and 11 speed, and if you are going to be using these in a shop environment, or working on multiple bikes and friends bikes, I would spend the money. The Park 4.3 works, but not nearly as well.
