hmm so is the old hardware v4 the more accurate power meter than the newer ones which still needs many firmware improvements to become reliable?

Sigeyi (back in v4) used to be more accurate than Magene. But it seems current hardware version are closely similar to Magene spider?
This new RaceFace SIGEYI spider I have reports Hardware Version: "PM_V2.9".... It has firmware version 2.12 on it. The -5.5% scaling is holding up very well indoors against the DiretoXR and three different types of pedal power meters. I'll need another day of testing outside before I'll be happy with it.

I wonder if they calibrate the smaller BCD differently? I'll ping them on this.

In other news... a set of Magene QED cranks arrived today. 172.5. DUB. 147mm width. I'm keen to see if they'll be more durable on the gravel bike as I've toally funked up the SRAM carbon cranks I've been using/testing with by hitting too many rocks.
How is the qed crank doing? Is it worth it?

Crankset itself is fine. Installs fine. Stiff. Rides well. etc.

It's an interesting hybrid of being a DUB spindle with a Shimano direct mount interface for the chainrings, so it's not compatible with my gravel setup.

The QED crank solves a problem for Magene in regard to their spider power meters. They can now offer a crank/power spider solution as opposed to offering only a spider and having people source their own cranks. Ideally I'd like to see the QED crank chainring interface support SRAM 8-bolt to increase compatibility.

Updated the RaceFace spider I have here to 2.22 today and it appears to have lost the -5.5% scaling I had on it. I confirmed/reset that -5.5% scale in the app after 20mins of riding. Same deal. It's reading high. I'll have to put it back on a trainer and do more testing.

Really not happy having to mess about so much to scale it and now debug/verify things after a firmware update.

They just released a new crank with p505 powermeter. It is caled PES and it's fully compatible with shimano bottom bracket. I am keen on trying it so I won't have to change (destroy 🙃) my dura Ace bottom bracket to test it.

Are you planning to have it on test?

If it's the P505 meter, there's no need to re-test. I have the P505 covered. The 24mm spindle is a welcome update though.

Thx. My app didn’t update automatically. I had to update it from the App Store. I usually assume that the latest version gets updated when opening the app, so thx for posting.
