Yes, check the colour: red is the "good one", the black was the previous one that was recalled.

I think if the steerer is red, then it's the new one
Specialized SL7 - 7.1kg including Garmin mount, bottle cages and pedals
As above, checking the expansion plug is easy, you just have to remove the top cap and check the color of the expansion plug (new one has a red lip and knurled expander, old one is all black):
The new compression ring is trickier, because it is underneath the headset transition cap. But you might be able to look into the gap between the head tube and the transition, and check if you can see the stainless steel ring:
There are a few slots in the aluminum tapered cap (anodized grey), so you may be able to see the stainless steel ring through one of the slots. The view through the slots may be obstructed, as that is where the cables route, but the hydraulic hoses only run through the front slot and one side slot, so you may be able to see the SS ring through the other side gap.
Much obliged guys , I really appreciate the detailed information.
I'll get round to checking it over the weekend and take it from there.
I'm not concerned about an imminent failure as the bike has only covered a few hundred miles and I'll probably be waiting on better weather to start using it , but if it's the down level components I'll change them / get them changed out.

Take it apart and check? You will see in 2 seconds if you either have the new parts or not.

Just sold my SW Sl7 after almost 4 years of hard riding. Bought a 2024 Factor Ostro VAM v2 frameset as a replacement.
Thought you guys may appreciate a compare / contrast to the SL7 in my review in the gallery:

Took some proper shots of my Sl7 I got custom painted 5 months ago. I had the bike for 2 years and when the SL8 was revealed, I couldn't see myself upgrading. Current weight with the CLXIIs, pedals, cages, and mount is 6.77kg. I'm probably going to buy a 45mm wheel set which should bring it down to ~6.45kg.
