Hi, I have a new Giant Revolt Advanced 0 gravel bike which currently has Shimano Ultegra hydraulic drivetrain with the rear derailleur being the RX model. I'm looking to upgrade to Ultegra Di2 and need help with the component selection. I believe the replacement rear derailleur needs to be the Ultegra 805 Di2 clutch, with the front derailleur Ultegra 8050 Di2. And of course I need battery, cables, and junction box. Now the shifters. I currently have the Ultegra (8000 series) hydro shifters and calieprs. Which model Di2 shifters do I need to replace these? Also can I use my existing brake calipers do I need to buy the new shifters complete with calipers? Thanks!

If you're upgrading to R8050 series di2 you'll need the following components
RD-RX805 rear mech
FD-R8050 front mech
ST-R8070 levers
Original calipers
If these are the R8070 model you'll need BH90-JK hoses
The rest of the parts will be the usual di2 cables, battery etc

He said he wanted clutched Rd... whether you really need it or not is another story. Before I switched to XTR and 1x on my gravel bike... I did not use the clutch very often on the rx805.

Is it possible to buy the shifters only without the calipers? Where? I’ve looked at doing this upgrade for the DA 9100 mechanical-hydro to DA Di2 9170 but it’s hard to find anyone selling just the shifters without the calipers.

Other than eBay, where can one get the shifters only without calipers?

Is it not better just to plump for the whole groupset money wise?

No, not really. The "Di2 upgrade" groupset from Merlins comes with brake calipers I already own and the wrong rear derailleur.

Unfortunately, I don't think Shimano sells the shifters w/o the calipers. I lucked out when I upgraded my bike, that I was able to find a set of ST-785's without the calipers, but I was prepared to pay for the whole set, and try to sell the new calipers (since my bike has post-mount brakes and not flat-mount).

If you're in the US, contact EuroBikeParts.com. I believe they have the RD-805 rear derailleurs as an upgrade to the groupset, for only a minimal upcharge.

Jenson, and Glory Cycles sell the Ultegra 8070 di2 hydro shifters without calipers for around $400.

That's a pretty decent price, TBH. I was under the impression that the levers and calipers came together as a set, with the matching hose and hardware. If you can get it from there, do it.

Best price I’ve seen is Merlin cycles. Kits to upgrade to Di2 are $1050 for R8070 upgrade and $1650 for R9170 upgrade kit.

Problem for me is I live In USA and don’t know what to expect for customs duties. Otherwise these are good prices IMO.

I bought my 9170 upgrade kit from Merlin and had it shipped to Canada. I paid our regular sales tax and nothing more.
