I've got a Venge. Tire clearance is simply massive on it too. I've got a 28mm rear (and 25 front). The rear tire measures out at 30 on the stock rovals and there is still a ton of room. Fitting a 32 would be super easy and I suspect you could bigger if you really wanted.

I accept that at the fork. At the seatstays / chainstays, and specially behind the seat tube, I find it counter intuitive... But I accept my ignorance here.timmerrr wrote:
Getting the tire away from the fork and seatstays/chainstays is more aero. That is why the tri version of the shiv doesn't have rim brakes so they could move the fork further away from the wheel/tire.

why with a disc brake only platform you don't need the seatstays to hug the wheel. dropped stays for more compliance. the bb is stiff enough with the latest high modulus carbon. no need for chainstay bridges to stiffen the rear end. yes disc brakes are better

Do you really believe the design team of the new Shiv was even given the option of using rim brakes? Do you really think they were given free reign to design the fastest aero bike they could, with no constraints? At the top of the list of Design Specs either listed or explicitly and/or implicitly understood... was of course...AndreLM wrote:I accept that at the fork. #1) Absolutely, Not an option, Don’t even ask.... NO RIM BRAKES. We are Specialized.
Now, with that in mind, go forth and come up with something slippery.
I suspect had they been given the rim brake option the newest Shiv could have been even faster, but you can bet the powers that be at Specialized were not even going to put that option on the table. Instead they gave it not one, but three short headtubes fighting their way through the wind.
I tend to agree with @AndreLM’s line of questioning. It’s good to ask the question. Especially when it involves Specialized, given their history.

I reckon it's perfect for exactly that.
not until they show the geo and the weight... but likely yes. The ESX for sure anyways.
