Are We Getting A New Cannondale Supersix?
Moderator: robbosmans
Hey guys, i have question
I bought this supersix in 2020 and i was about to get it repainted but after stripping the frame i noticed one of the fork stopper on the frame being crushed.
I know its a Cannondale thing, frame is supposed to be life time warranty, should i contact my Bike shop where i bought it to replace the frame?
Theres some pictures

Mine was a bit worse and I got a 'goodwill' replacement. That damage may only get worse over time to the point the headtube cracks. My replacement has metal reinforcements.Mcdeez wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 8:08 amHey guys, i have question

Seriously yes it annoying and kinda insulting,a bike is not supposed to brake when you turn a fork lolVivo66 wrote:Mad that they're claiming its users fault when they are the ones that implanted a small metal axe type thing in his fork haha

I just received a warranty frame from a few hairline cracks I found on the downtube (can provide photos if anyone is interested). Anyways - I just posted my fork for sale on Pinkbike if anyone is looking for a replacement: https://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/3532997/
You should definitely be able to get it replaced under warranty, but just so you know it can take a very long time to get a replacement. I just recieved my waranty frame this week and I submitted the warranty claim over 15 months ago. It's a 60cm frame though, so that may not be the same for all frame sizes.Mcdeez wrote: ↑Sat Jan 14, 2023 8:08 amHey guys, i have question

When you're getting a new frame by warranty, do you keep the old frame? Or you have to send back the old one to them?Bfriesen wrote:You should definitely be able to get it replaced under warranty, but just so you know it can take a very long time to get a replacement. Normally, you cannot keep a damaged frame, the shop or rep will take it back. That's the case with most brands, probably required by their lawyers, to make sure damaged frames are not repaired improperly just to be sold back on ebay or marketplace with hidden damages/defects and potentially putting back on the market an unsafe frame with their name.Mcdeez wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 10:41 pmWhen you're getting a new frame by warranty, do you keep the old frame? Depending what the damage is, you may ask to keep it but they might have to make sure you wont be able to resell it, so cutting it in half or cutting off big and critical enough pieces so it will never be ridden again.

I'm guessing that those frame weights are without paint which would add that 149g you're not sure about.Wilfors86 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:08 pmHi AllLedZeppelin007 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 6:13 pmI actually prefer to have most of the tops unwrapped. Just took off the tape and plugs. Weighed about 110g. Probably save 30-40g by going to supercaz.dnb72 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 7:53 amDoes it have the knot cockpit and stock bar tape and bar end plugs? If so a cheap way to save weight would be to switch the bar end plugs for some push in one's, the ones that come it are surprisingly heavy! Another trick is to leave the tops of the bars unwrapped as long as they're still comfortable for you of course!LedZeppelin007 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 12:20 amSo, I'm a bit frustrated. No matter what I do (within reason), my non-HM SS EVO Force is still a pig. Yes, Force is heavy, I know, but not THAT heavy. I easily got a Canyon ultimate SLX with Force down to 7.4 kg.
With the Quarq PM, an upgraded 140g saddle, no pedals, cages, or mounts, and with Zipp 303FC (the new ones), and 30mm Schwalbe Pro Ones, I'm sitting at bang-on 8kg (size 58). That would be fine if it were an all-out aero bike, but it's supposed to a all-rounder/climbing bike! I could save 100g total by putting the 10-33 cassette back on (10-36 on now) and by moving to 28mm tires. Beyond that, though, it's going to cost a fortune. $300 for a new cockpit, $300 for a new cassette, and $350 for some new crank arms probably gets me half-a-kg. Looking at 7.45kg.
That's very aggravating. Feels like I should've just picked up a TCR or an Emonda. Especially considering the issues I've have with shifting and with my headset.
Having put a significant amount of money in at this point (at least $1500 after selling the factory wheels) to be at 8kg is kind of a joke' especially with 1350g wheels.
Good idea.
Also, weighed both the Force 10-33 and 10-36, for those interested. 10-33 was 268g and 10-36 was 311g.
So, if I put on new tape and go back to the 10-33, still looking at 7.92kg. Lol.
New to the forum so excuse any faux pas - wanted to follow on from this point about the weight of the SS,
I bought a Ultegra Disc 2021 58 (I'm 6ft 3) and love it, apart from the weight but I'm willing to make some investments over time here.
Firstly i cannot understand why the bike weights so much, is it just because its 58 frame, its 8.6kg which is chubby when looking at other SS bikes and claimed weights here. I've created a list to see how it adds up but that still doesn't explain. Can someone help to correct what I'm missing?

Replacing that really heavy bar/stem would save a lot and those wheels aren't light either, you'd save at least half a kilo using some lighter alternatives.
Using your weight numbers you could save 100 grams from replacing the saddle, another 100 with the bartape and another 100 with the cassette.
