DMT KR1. Dream shoe candidate?

Yes, sorry. Another week. Another moderately pricey* shoe discussion.

Having not found any online reviews or any mention of the KR1 here, I thought I'd start this thread.

Let's say like me, you wanted a shoe that was stiff but comfortable, well-ventilated upper yet robust, had a tight-fitting heel but ample width from the metatarsal forward (including a roomy toe box), and a knitted/flexible upper so as to conform to the foot without crushing the top of it or creating weird hot spots... would the KR1 be at the top of your list?

Especially if you had discounted the Fizi:k Infinito R1 Knit for being too narrow, the Lake 402 for being too hot and heavy, the Giro Empire E70 for having laces, and the Specialized EXOS to be potentially too much of an exercise in diminishing returns.

If you've tried them or own them, I'd welcome your thoughts as to how they've met or exceeded your expectations, and in which areas (if any) they may have failed.

Oh, yeah.

If the KR1 does make it to the top of my dream shoe candidate list I would probably plunge for the Elia Vivani Watermelon - er... Italian Champion Edition just because.

Last week i tried one of these but with mtb sole (it was a prototype for a sponsored rider and exactly my size). I can say that at a first glance it was the most comfortable thing i have ever put on my feet

One thing though, have you seen the bolt holes for the cleats?
Both my Giro Factor and Shimano S-pyre rc9 have a range here..

Hmm. Narrower, you say... Darn, was hoping it'd be a little wider.

Still, not discounting it completely yet. Need to find a pair to try on.

Thats rather strange, how can you have a shoe with no adjustability. I have had the DMT with Speedplay soul before and it was a good fittting shoe but kind of cheap material around the carbon soul. At least it had some adjustment. There is no way I could wear this without being able to move my cleats towards the toe.
I checked out some of the other models and they show that same rigid mount.

My cleats have some range of movement (Time Xpresso/ Mavic Zxellium), i think it would be sufficent for me.
I just posted this pic, because i'm aware of people sometimes move cleats rather much.
Anyways, it seems like nice shoes. For now, my favorite is Shimano S-pyre. It just sit more tight over heel for me than Giro.
A bit minor changes that i can't find words for, but i prefer Shimano.
However, 46½ for Giro and 46 for Shimano.

I am looking at purchasing Northwave Extreme Pro but getting very frustrated with the sizing charts that lack serious updating from said shoe company and it seems the shoes are getting narrower and shorter which is not helping the situation.
How are the Shimano sizing and toe box room for the S-pyre. My foot measures out at 110mm X 276mm and I have been thinking the Shimano shoe is very nice and many people seem to like it.

BB1tr, i can only say, my feets measure 283-285mm pending on if i pressure foot down or not.
I would say in this size it works very well. My width i would say is 10cm wide.
I always need to use longer shoes than my actual foot lenght, or my big toe get pressured on the toe box.
With Shimano, the whole shoe fit very well all over.
So i use 46 size in Shimano and 46½ with Giro (Factor and Empire VR-90).
Mavic won't work under 46 2/3 and Northwave GPX winter shoes i think, was 45 (It's a tiny bit snug in the toe box).
It seems you would be 1 size below me on Shimano. Shimano also have a wide shoe. But how that translates into toe box, width and and heel, i don't know!

The knit upper part looks realy good on paper. Wish I could try a pair, but I don`t have any shop close by, that would selle DMT.
I own a SIDI Ergo 4 (size 42.5 EU) and Mavics 42 2/3 EU. SIDI is close fit, and mavic toe box is narrow, but fits ok. How are DMT size compared to mavic or sidi?

Another option would be Fizik Infinito R1 Knitted shoes.

Why don't you become a test pilot and come back with a report?
I'd love to try the KR1, but i just like my Shimano shoes so i'd rather buy a second pair of these.

I asked a local shop who supply DMT, and I was told they will have KR1 in stock in about a month.
