Just received a set of Rotor Aldhu Carbon cranks. The non drive side makes this rather unsettling noise. Is that normal? Rotor customer service does not respond...

I had the same problem, and the crankarm was replaced by the seller (R2-Bike)

Hey,

have you checked if the crankarms are seated fully (to the bottom)?
Or pushing to tight against the BB bearings?
Lift chain and see how the crank spin (no chain around chainrings)

Have you watched the video? No seated crankarms, BB or chainrings involved.

Not much to be said, the crank is clearly defective and needs to be dealt with through warranty.

Thanks for the responses.

On another note, do you know of crank boots for the Carbon Aldhu cranks? The normal Aldhu boots don't quite fit.

Just curious if you got this resolved? I have two sets of these cranks on two of my bikes and in both cases I had/have the same issue you are experiencing. I suppose it is some residue from the milling of the cutouts for the aluminium inserts. When orering them for the first time I returned them and ordered from another shop just to find out the next pair had the same issue. I ended up ordering 3 or 4 of them hoping to find a good pair without any rattling and returning the others. Unfortunaly, non of theses crank arms was completely free of it with some rattling more than others. Since I was an early adopter I hoped it was just a cosmetic QC issue which Rotor is going to get sorted down the line and decided to keep the ones where it was least noticeable and put them on the bike.

Since then I have kept them on both of my bikes as they are very solid performers. I don't notice it when riding and I had almost forgotten about it before you brought this up here, but it remains an annoyance...

Spain is in the south of Europe, not a Caribbean country.

Is there any European manufacturer that produces better metal cranksets? Aldhu24 fixes all the shimano wrongdoings, it can even be paired with a chainring PM and read power, unlike ultegra and dura ace PMs.

Apart from the manual - which is only useful as kindle I am very satisfied with my Aldhu cranks.

Good machining, good fit and finish, plenty of options (30 or 24mm spindle, DM or separate rings) and they don't look bad :)

Sorry mate, no offense - just a bit of joking around in serious times. And if that didn't come across correctly, I absolutely love the ALDHU Carbon cranks. Also, I am a big fan of Qrings, which help me to cancel out some knee problems I have when using round rings on longer rides. My crankset is ADLHU Carbon, 30mm axle, P2M NG spider based pm with 52/36 Aero-Qrings. It's light, stiff, modular and (relatively) affordable. Highly recommended!
