Hey all, thinking of dipping my toe into the open mold water.

I'm looking for an aero bike, rim brake that's ideally regular rather than direct mount, and fully integrated so 1.5" straight headset. Looking for something at the nicer end of the spectrum. Ideally it could be upgraded with a lighter seat post and integrated bars further down the track, so I don't want to put lipstick on a pig so to speak.

I did see the TCRFO86 from Top Carbon, that looks quite nice and would be awesome if it came in rimbrake. Anyone know if it does?:

The FM666 from Flybikes looks pretty good too. Again, I can't find any info on this frame. Anyone have it or variations of it?

Info around weight but also cost and stiffness fwiw would be awesome.

Cheers all,
Kurt
See recent experiences of TopCarbon / Lexon gravel frames on Chinertown ... quality / customer service was a disaster.
Jeez, that doesn't sound great, although the problems seemed more about purchasing through Lexon (who were/are resellers of Topcarbon), rather than Topcarbon directly. However, if that is the case.... TopCarbon shouldn't be onselling their rejects.

Thanks for the heads up.
Kurt
IIRC some were bought direct from TC.

Looking for some help from the more seasoned chinese importers. I really like the look of the workswell 366 but I cannot seem to find anywhere to buy it. Anyone has an idea how to source a workswell frame?
Any comparable frame would be awesome as well. Looking for a light disc brake bike with hidden cables and preferably a round seat post. Think Aethos but with hidden cables

I already ordered a velobuild 177 with gloss raw carbon, so will update once I get it. Really wondering to what weight I can get it with Ultegra DI2, Darimo parts and Farsport Feders  .

A friend had a 177 with Hyper 38mm and new Ultegra Di2. Came in at around 7kg without any particular fancy parts.

If you went all out you could build a 6.5kg bike.

Can you perhaps enlighten me which brand/model handlebars are on that bike?

I have a 177 as well, it's a great frame. Size M with one piece handlebar in 400*100. Running SRAM Red 22 with some fat Superteam wheels (25mm ID) and Enve tires 700x29mm. It's hovering around 7.6 kg with everything on the bike. I did swap out the seatpost for a zero setback post that weighs 130g. Didn't really care about the weight, just wanted a straight post and this one was cheap.
I have Farsports Kaze set on the way myself in marble finish :D I also ordered The One Pro handlebar, but still kind of unsure on this one. May end up flipping it and going with a two piece setup...we'll see.

Does Velobuild provide gloss raw carbon as a finish option? I painted mine myself, but that would have been super cool.

I just asked them if gloss raw carbon was possible and they said no problem. They had already done matte raw carbon and the pictures they shared seemed promising.

For me the integrated bar wasn't really an option as I prefer 36cm bars and currently the only ones making one are Darimo

The 360mm Vision Metron 5D Supercompact is 349mm at the hoods and the 380mm size is 369mm at the hoods.

EXS also has a 360mm option which is 380mm in the drops.

Unortunately the Vision only come in one stem length, at least from what I can find on the Vision website. I am 1m90, so the 36cm are not because of a small build, rather for aerodynamics and comfort.

The EXS looks awesome, a bit heavier than Darimo, but I am wondering about availability. Their site doesn't really do much and as far as I know I could only get these using Chinese vendors like Taobao. If their site would be up and running, I would definitely be interested, especially given their awesome price to performance.

Do any of these lightweight (not aero) rim brake frames come with straight 1.5" headtubes?

I'm wondering about the viability of turning a lightweight frame into a mostly hidden cable, aero-ish (handlebars and wheels) climbable ride.

Thanks for the response - I'll check it out. I loved the classic looking drops of that bar - particularly the curve. The drops do no seem as deep as the 80/90 bars which is good iny opinion.

Has anyone tried a FM609?

I was looking for a replacement light/climbing frame for my FM066 that could take 28mm tires. Seraph directed me to the FM609 frame.
However, everywhere I see it - including TanTan's website - labels it as a "test frame" and from 2019.

Any better choices out there?

Yes , I bought a Tantan FM609 last year ,like you I was looking for a light frame that could take 28mm tyres . Before pulling the trigger , I did a bit of research , the FM609 closely resembles a rim brake Cervelo R5 , indeed the geo is identical , which in a56 is perfect for me .
Generally ,Tantan seem to get good reviews , although, as you have found out , there is absolutely nothing out there about the FM609 . Anyway I took a chance, and I'm glad I did , quality of the frame and forks I received was really good .
Paint is very good on mine and the BB86 BB shell was thankfully very good , I've had no creaks at all during a summer of riding . Build mine up with a Campag mechanical groupset, and American Classic Argent wheelset , bike weighs in at 6.5Kg.
Only bad thing I found ,was that the seatpost supplied with the frame required a fair about of fettling to get a carbon railed saddle to fit.
