Take my money but simply make the width around the ball of the foot a bit wider. The sole of course not by adding volume. Currently running the Ares and they are near perfect. So please no duck shoes again 🤣

Looks much more like an Ares replacement. Completely square toe box is great. I hope it has as little toe spring as initial photos seemed to indicate, and less than the Ares - the Torch has way more.

Oh yes squarish toebox. Personally I would like more square inside for my big toe.

I doubt Spec has changed sole between Torch and this "Ares" replacement. They have to amortize those molds for a while, given the cost associated.

Well it's got to be different because it's a different shape, just as the Ares and Torch were. You can't make it a different shape and size and then use the same mold.

I saw the official factory shipment of the shoes last week, and they don't look like all the pictures in the post.

Wouldn't that be just some custom shoes made for his wider feet?

Could just be that he has tiny feet. I think he wears ~41. Smaller sizes look much wider and squarer comparatively - usually.

Good screen grabs. From those images, they very much look like a Torch, with different placement of the upper boa, and a retention pad similar to that of the Ares. I honestly don't love the pressure up that high on top of my foot on my Ares, but I can imagine some people do, and they probably offer more stability for sprinters(or those guys riding threshold at 400 watts). For me personally, that angled cutout/overlap of the tongue near the toebox that was introduced on the Torch was the key that unlocked a good fit for me(as well as avoided that bunching look). Happy to see that carry over as it really works for me.

Heel's much too loose and there's way too much toe spring for the Torch to be usable for me. The Ares is much better, though far from perfect.

Guys I just wanted to chime in with some thoughts on the Specialized S-Works Torch (current version) shoes. I paid big bucks for them ($650 AUD) as they sold them in a WIDE variant. Fit wise they're absolutely perfect for my wide feet. I ended up buying the blue insoles too as I have arched feet and these made the shoes even more comfortable.

At some point I wanted a white pair of shoes, but the white Torch didn't come in WIDE and then an "as new" pair of Shimano S-PHYRE shoes came up on Marketplace in my size at a really good price so I thought I'd try them. As soon as I put them on I instantly felt they were too tight for me so I let them sit there for a few months until recently where I thought I'd at least try them out.

What a revelation! The Shimano S-PHYRE shoes are SO MUCH STIFFER than the S-Works Torch. With the Torch I can actually feel if my cleats are slightly too far back, or forward after a long ride and felt pain in my foot after some rides, but with the Shimano S-PHYRE they're so damn stiff I can't feel any pain at all in the ball of my foot and I 100% feel like I'm getting more power down with them.

Consider me converted!
