I'm taking it for my first ride tomorrow. Initial thoughts were how embarrasingly large it is compared to my old cateye "cyclocomputer" or Garmin Edge 130+. Immediate next thought was how much more intuitive it was to setup than the Edge, even without touchscreen (I kept forgetting). Next thought was how incredible the screen looked.

I'm used to the Garmi connect ecosystem after using their Forereunner and then Fernix watches for many years and was concerned about losing the data analysis. However, I figured I'd record the actual ride data on my Fenix6 watch and use the Karoo 2 for on-bike stats and navigation. Seems the best of both worlds.

Not to put you off - be aware the 36t and 54t are prone to breaking given the lightweight design.

There is a little known/publicised 24t ratchet available, which like the 18t is solid and very robust. It's actually designed for ebikes, but works perfectly in any original star ratchet (not EXP) DT hubs.

It doesn't seem like much but 18t to 24t changes the engagement from 20 degrees to 15 degrees which really is noticeable on the bike and doesn't introduce much drag or noise (unlike the higher counts).

54t ratches have been fine on my mountain bike wheels for years now. On the road bike, they didn't last long for whatever reason. Chipped a couple of the teeth. I always kept on top of servicing them and lubed with the special DT grease. There were quite annoying on the road bike anyways. Just keep an eye on them.

Updates for the Étape du Tour next week. Power cup TT found for 50€ each, will see if they inflate as expected (23 should be 25 and 25 should inflate 27mm).

EDIT: they measure as expected, 25.2 on the fron and 27.2 on the rear (on a C19 rim)... and as pointed out, they are no power Cup TT, just Power TT

Vittoria latex tubes… 2 at 78 and one 10g lighter at 68.

A compact spidering purchased here on WW to swap with the 52/36 I usually have… “just in case”.

I've found that it's essential to carry pliers to loosen stuck tubeless lock nuts or valve nuts on the road. They're also handy for pulling loose derailleur cables. These are the smallest I could find and will fit in nicely with my new Daysaver kit.

Here you go:

I had to add a drop of oil to the hinge, but I'm very happy with their quality, and they do the job nicely.

Now that the midsummer sales have started, I got a replacement for my aging Aether.

I took the plunge and ordered up a pair of Tune cages. I hope that I won't lose any more bottles.
