Probably a custom made Pegoretti with EPS as I still regret not buying one when I had the chance 2 years ago.
How about a custom carbon Pegoretti?
Alas, not free though!

Probably a top spec Asian build out of curiosity as I don't think I would buy one, a Festka with light weights as I'm curious but wouldn't buy, or a stoll...
But I own all the bikes I actually want

Aurelia- Stainless All Road 8.5kg
Bertha- TT 9.8kg
Perdita- Ti Turbo bike 8kg

I'd say a top-kited Madone (LW's, Ciamillo cranks maybe.. anything that would shave weight, and bring the price up) but then - i just can't imagine riding a 25k bike
but if i were to get an early present from santa, a (very, very) nice climbing bike would do. definitely custom, perhaps a Festka, on full Campa - Hyperon Ultras and mech Record. still pricy but in a different kind of way.
now that i've typed these words, i really begin to lust for one...

Stoll look cool, but it feels like it's a huge gap between M and L.
I have noted Festka has a great appeal, it seems kind of a favorite here?
What is it that is so special with them?

Probably I would get a bike that I would otherwise not even remotely consider, to see what I am missing. Say, a custom titanium build (or Festka, something of the sort), SR EPS, ceramic-stuff-everything, Campagnolo top of the range wheels. This is stuff I could-but-never-would pay for, so if I could get it for free..

There's was probably a time when I might have drooled over that Extreme Power...
It's definitely garish, but I like the story as part of the bike: "I went to Italy on vacation. Ernesto himself measured me and Colnago built it FOR ME!!!... then we had wine and pasta!"
Definitely! Was being measured by Ernesto or anyone at the Colnago factory ever a real thing available to people or was it a promotion since the journalist was going to write an article?

I presume you have either billiard smooth roads or have never ridden one of those Saeco Cannondales? Horribly over-stiff teeth rattler.

Off topic: Hum not at all… still ride regularly a caad5 (with spinergy time to time) and it’s nowhere near a teeth rattler. Each time it surprises me how responsive the bike is and relatively comfortable if you don’t use 19mm tire @ 8bar… frames 2.8 and caad3 were rough, 4 and above no.

I was kind of in the situation last year, not having to pay in cash for the bike, and having some demo/sponsored parts. I still wouldn't change a thing from the current configuration.

With the Conti tires and the different bottom bracket, it comes in at 7.22kg with cages, pedals, and Garmin mount.

Well, i for sure can understand the idea of picking the most expensive über components and frameset.
My only gripe with any premium bike is, disc brakes are good i know. The idea of better braking in rain and so on.
But i wouldn't dare to push any bike in slippery. If i crashed i don't even know if i would dare to look at the bike.
I think i would get a mental brake down if it got damaged. I had a ti bike before and ofcourse i crashed with it.
(cornering - gravel on tarmac, bike tires just lost grip)
It did hurt like hell, but the first thing i checked was the bike. I think if it had been carbon a crack had been imminent.
Just can't bare the idea of this with any new + 5000 Euro frameset.

Thought about this and strange, but I think it would be exactly the bike that I have, right down to the wheel choice and 9170 DA. Perhaps because I know that it works for me. I really doubt some boutique custom geo bike would perform better.
Hey Gib,
while i am happy for you, i would ofcourse still say.
You realise you got this bike on top of your Ostro?
So you could pick a custom with same geo just to see where it got you.
