I've seen a tweet suggesting she was riding and holding onto the vehicle, and hence the charge is not murder.
I have no idea if it's true or not.
However, there appear to be a lot of people jumping to the conclusion that he deliberately struck her with the vehicle without proof online.
The charges of causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and endangering life wouldn't support this theory.

During the Sky years it was widely reported by both Froome and Porte than they had urine thrown at them. In response they complained verbally, often gesticulated with a hand and made their feelings known in interviews. They never spat at anyone by way of reply
You may not be aware of this, but road races are generally point to point, while cyclocross races go around in circles.
So unless a road rider is on enough of a hair trigger to retaliate immediately, by the time they decide to do something the opportunity is gone. A 'cross rider might experience the same abuse from the same fans multiple times, and have the rest of the lap to stew on it and decide to do something next time around.

^ which also negates the escalatory aspect of their behavior. Didn't get a reaction to the insults? Try beer next lap. No reaction? Here's a cup of urine. The rider on the loop is of course aware of all this.
If these assholes tried this at an NBA game, they'd be scheduling dental surgery soon thereafter.
With regards to Dennis, that just makes my heart hurt.

How can she be both riding and holding onto the vehicle?
Seriously?
