Good marketing, but I have heard that Bastions aren’t that impressive in the flesh

Agree, beautifully made but unexceptional otherwise.robbosmans wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 3:13 pmGood marketing, but I have heard that Bastions aren’t that impressive in the flesh
I think that was for advertome rodriguez wrote: ↑Sat Jan 21, 2023 3:02 pmRichie Porte, an ex pro, but check out his ride in TDU... a Bastion.
On his Instagram this is what he was riding...pretty sane alum wheels/rim brake
...and mechanical shifting? I'm sure he has lots of bikes. The retro crowd can take some solace in this.
Some serious weight gain though. Understandable after so many years of restraint, but that is a much bigger Richie.

Comments like you just made started a real storm on IG with Ritchie's wife coming on & reading off all the folks that said the same thing.
Rightfully so as he has been a pro for a long time & this is the first thing many say. She was upset & felt it is rude

Richie is short and he's been hiting the weights...pretty obvious by the pic with the Bastion. Ofcourse he's gonna look stocky

Sounds like Mrs Porte has more of a problem than Richie who seems to own it judging by that photo. I guess she sees it as a negative. For all we know Porte could be preparing for open water swim. And is anyone saying he is too heavy? Guy is retired, he can be what ever weight he wants.flying wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 12:22 amComments like you just made started a real storm on IG with Ritchie's wife coming on & reading off all the folks that said the same thing.

But regardless, what does she expect? Its part of the culture. Cyclists will talk about weight and everything else body related. No different than jokes about Wout Poels’ arms, Forsterman’s thighs, or my hero’s soft tummy and flat ass. So sorry Mrs Porte, but to pretend to have no reaction to that photo is just ignoring the elephant in the room.
