understood that wrong then.
Still surprising to see someone make that effort, especially in a race like the TdU. But confirms my impression that the younger generation of riders seems to care about details like that a lot more, while many older Pros seem to not care about even easy gains.

OT I know but: I don't really watch Cam videos but saw this one today because of a linkTobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 7:37 amShimano 12-speed does seem to be throwing a lot of chains. Last year this was blamed on the use of 11-speed chainrings/cranksets. But now we've seen so many thrown chains in CX and Matthews was running R9200 cranks today...albeit with a pro-only sized big ring.
Never saw a Shimano Crank snapped at spindle

Absolutely, after working with pro riders it's night and day. I'd say there is a pretty clear divide maybe 30 YO riders and above are slightly more traditional but I do think that comes from most of them coming through the ranks of European junior teams who tend to me more conservativeeins4eins wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 11:04 amunderstood that wrong then.

Funny but Sad though...I wonder if this kinda thing is going to continue this season? It would be a real shame for Jumboichobi wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 8:14 amDid I just hear F*ucking SRAM in Australian accent?

I do not remember hearing about battery issues with Trek or Movistar, so IMO it's a non-story.
At the Harrogate worlds an Italian U23 or junior rider snapped a Shimano spindle 20 yards out of the start gate of the TT. It failed in a kind of spiral pattern IIRC.flying wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 2:49 amOT I know but: I don't really watch Cam videos but saw this one today because of a linkTobinHatesYou wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 7:37 amShimano 12-speed does seem to be throwing a lot of chains. Not ultra clear - it took older riders to kick things off in the first place right? Hansen is 41, Bigham is 31, Dowsett is 34, Alex Richardson is 32 etc. But younger riders have grown up in the environment where those things exist and are used so adoption is sure to be more widespread.Tifosiphil wrote: ↑Fri Jan 20, 2023 10:45 amAbsolutely, after working with pro riders it's night and day. Regardless of age, someone who enters pro cycling late (coming from another endurance sport) would probably be less encumbered by tradition.
