I was not sure he was going to hang on there at the end. I am a little surprised that Quick Step are sticking with Remco as leadout man. He does not seem to be the best at it. Stage one he goes the wrong way, stage 2 (they win) but Jacobson has to swing all the way to the right to get a clear line to the finish, and stage 3 he loses the man behind him. While normally that is on the guy holding the wheel, I feel like Remco is always slightly out of place and offers no draft (just like when he rode his team off his wheel during the TTT at La Vuelta).

I wonder then if their use of Remco is more to do with what Remco needs/wants for his form and development than what the team needs from him in this particular race.

How does doing lead-outs benefit his GC chances? If you want to hone your top end to fine-tune your form, just do it (as they say).
But this doesn't seem the point in the season (for GC riders) to do that.

Upcoming 19yo (racing age) in the US recently did this while guest riding at Ineos' Team Camp.

That's impressive. How big is the 19 year old?

189cm / 76kg. So significantly taller than, say, Magnus Sheffield, but only 2kg heavier according to PCS.

Tour of San Juan is a terrible race. Uninteresting stages across grim landscape and terrible race control, why bother. You'd think a country would try to show off their good side when televising a race but good grief the landscape looks like the Mojave desert in California, sand and tumbleweeds. This race needs a makeover or should go away.

Exciting to see Bernal in the mix one year after his crash, I can't help but find myself rooting for him in San Juan. He's posting power numbers which is a neat look into what a day in the peloton looks like from a performance perspective:

Peter Sagan is retiring from full time road racing after this year to focus on the 2024 Olympics in mountain biking. Hoping he goes out with a bang, he looks to be in great shape and starts the year in good form.

To this day I call him Petazaagan, the pronunciation of his name used by some commentators in his first year.

I suspect he will appear on the gravel scene very soon after Paris 24, if not before.

He has long term ambassador contracts with Specialized and Sportful.

Lantern Rouge said U.S. gravel racers should enjoy Unbound 2023 because Sagan will be there in 2024.
