I run a single Cateye BM45 mirror on my right handle bar (traffic drives on the left side in AU), had a bit of adjustability which is good and looks reasonably minimal on the handlebar, doesnt hurt to run it with a Garmin Varia if you have a compatible headset to get the read-out.

You can only lean the bike on one side, that's why I use the wrist mirror.squareznboxez wrote:I run a single Cateye BM45 mirror on my right handle bar (traffic drives on the left side in AU), had a bit of adjustability which is good and looks reasonably minimal on the handlebar, doesnt hurt to run it with a Garmin Varia if you have a compatible headset to get the read-out.

An Australian review in the comments section on YT sold me to get one, the reviewer said the second rider in his group was calling "car back" despite not being tail end Charlie.

Get the original. I have 3 Ali, 3 Corky now.
2 Ali versions have a less curved mirror than the Corky, so you have to adjust them carefully, and they lose the adjustment easily.
The 3rd one has a nearly flat mirror and is useless...

Based on the recommendations of, well, everyone, I decided that I am going to buy a varia (in a few days).
I'll be getting the RVR315 model without the light, cause it's smaller and lighter.
And since I don't have any sort of head unit, I went for a wahoo elemnt bolt.
They seem to be very popular!
I've been very reluctant to incorporate anything electronic on my bike other than lights...
Unfortunately this now means that I'll need to upgrade my smartphone too, to be able to customise the thing.
The mirrors are yet to arrive, but I'll see how I get on with both.

Thanks synchronicity I didn't even know the Varia existed till I saw this thread. I'm not into gadgetry on the bike at all, my last computer was an Avocet 40!! But with the increasing number of electric cars creeping up from behind it could be the way to go.
I use the Italian road bike mirror.
Fits over one end of your drop bar.

I can’t recommend it highly enough.
When installed - its very unobtrusive. It also works very well.

I have on of these handmade custom mirrors; they mount on your hand. 85g. Each finish is custom, it is made of solid acrylic with a 2" convex mirror. They are versatile; you can rotate your wrist to get multiple rear views, they are aerodynamic and lighweight. No need for a dedicated handlebar mirror (especially if you have multiple bikes) and way cooler than helmet mirrors

Just sharing my actual ride photos today taken of my Aliexpress wrist mirror to give an idea of the size and angle of the mirror and what you can see behind.

Does Garmin make a mount (RVR315) for a helmet? I have a rear light already...with brake light...so a hidden Varia radar on helmet would be nice.synchronicity wrote: ↑Wed Nov 18, 2020 11:24 amBased on the recommendations of, well, everyone, I decided that I am going to buy a varia (in a few days).
