Random question:
I have a Madone SLR and want to mount my Varia (315, so not light) onto the seat tube.
However, I don't want the Varia to sit "out" from the frame but rather as close as possible to the seat tube (and at same angle).
Any way to modify the standard reflector mount you make so that the varia (Garmin 1/4) mount sits flat on top of it? Ideally in one piece.
Even just having the "knuckle" adapter removed from the reflector mount so that it had a flat surface would make it possible to bond the Garmin mount to it.

This is kind of a draft of what I think it might look like. It is a combo Varia / AirTag mount since that is the driection I am going. It is a direct attachment to where the Trek mounts their reflector bracket. Direct mounting forces it to be a fixed angle.

It is only the
LARGE size and the requirements are that you must own a compatible Trek bicycle and the integrated saddle cluster flare mount. It is not the default selection. The
LARGE differs from the other two variants as it is offset downward 30 mm so it can accomodate the AirTag mounting socket behind the Varia socket. AirTag is a tight fit and installs with the silver side facing the front of the bicycle.

@WheresWaldo - just recently finished building the dream bike, a fillet brazed Llewellyn steelie.
One thing I am doing different with this bike is no computer (in back pocket) and aiming for stealthy light mounting. I use the Exposure TraceR lights, and have the rear mounted under the saddle, but the front is another issue.
Currently running the handlebar mount for the front, but don't like it there.
Is there a way to mount it under the stem (woul;d be happy with the similar mounting methodology of the handlebar arrangment) but directly under the stem.
Front light is used 99% as a flasher, so can be a fixed angle so as not to blind/annoy drivers.
Happy to look at other solutions too.

I am not really a fan of most peoples under stem mounts. Something just feels wrong about using a big rubber strap to hold something up under a stem. If I recall correctly the TraceR is something like 40g and cylindrical, so pretty light for a front light. If you are not opposed to alternative mounting methods, maybe the way I mount my Shimano Di2 Junction Box might work for you. I use 3M Ultimate Double-Sided Tape (3M 5952). It is usually used for attaching automotive trim to the outside of a car body. If I know the angle and the profile of the stem cross-section I could probably design something that just sticks to the bottom of the stem. I have had the same mount under stem for 7 years and it is still solidly attached (please note that the Junction A is really light).

I printed a little solution for my trainer and iPhone.
Garmin mount and a Magsafe circle on the other side. I'll use some 3M and put a MagSafe magnet on the circle to use for quick on/offs on the trainer.

Tend to agree. Not a fan of the tape though as Di2 junction box is in the bar and the stem is painted.
One thought I had when riding the bike today is the Ayup handlebar mount with a go-pro mount on the bottom to use an existing mount, or do it such that the light clips directly into the mount itself.
