I'm bumping the thread I started as I recently picked up a 10L heated ultrasonic cleaner, and wanted to give an update.

A 10L is the perfect size for XPLR 10-44 cassettes and can do a 50t chainring laying down. Those were two of the main things i'll be cleaning, so I wanted something large enough that I didn't need to flip the part mid wash to do the other side.

After a particularly nasty 60mile ride this week I was happy to see a manky waxed chain, cassette and chainring sparkling clean after a 5 min wash in 55c water with a few drops of dish detergent. No special cleaners, no scrubbing, no mess.

That's all I wanted to achieve, and the cleaner does that extremely well.

I'll experiment with cleaning other things, but I'm already happy with the purchase.
It's not an essential tool but it's reasonably priced enough to add to your kit if you're regularly riding in filthy winter weather.

I use a small RS ultrasonic cleaner. It's very useful & effective but do not be tempted to chuck in all of yoiur components. It will kill mechs & suchlike by driving out the longstanding lube from pivots etc & leave them dry & crunchy.
I periodically clean my chains, even with a good degreaser & a few changes of clean solution, a chain can still hold grime & dirt deep within the rollers. I thought a chain was 99% clean & no longer turning the solution dirty, but a blast with an aerosol cleaner (TF-90) loosened off loads more dirt & grime & thus I kept cycling new solution until clean again. Just keep your eyes open & use common sense before declaring a chain 'clean'.
