Velonews just posted a story about Vollering that's very interesting. She came across quite well, given what looked like a complete shit show at the Tour. I had no idea the extent of her crash injuries, she is one tough lady. Can understand why she looked pretty unhappy at the top of Alpe D'Huez after the stage.
Women's Tour next year is gonna be explosive. Many riders looking for redemption wins, plus throw Ferrand-Pre'vot and van der Breggen in the mix.

My prediction is that barring bad luck / injury, the Demi, Evita Muzic, Juliette Labous trio will be too much for any other team to handle in the mountains.

Hey Froomie won a "race":

He sure has milked his career for all its $$$worth, and I say that as a complement because he is after all a good ambassador type.

I don't understand the hate for Froome. He's won 7 Grand Tours and 9 other stage races at the WT level.
His business contracts are just that.
He's an amazing cyclist that has come through much adversity and has been nothing but great with fans and done well for the sport.

a, criticism and scepticism dont autmatically mean hate. b, you might want to go through old Pro Cycling threads on WW, because it's virtually impossible to explain all the fuss surrounding Froome without surely diving into endless and pointless *debate*

I believe the hate for Froome comes from all the "lies" he told repeatedly about his cycling fitness after his accident. He kept saying his "numbers" were just as good as they ever were right before being dropped on the first climb in any race he entered. He should of just admitted he was crap and would never win a real race again.

Remco had an incident this morning in Belgium, a parked car opened the car door into his path and knocked him off.

That's the reason I hate cycling lanes next to parked cars, you never know when someone will open their door.

It was a small van of the national post service. I am extra wary of cars that everyone knows that stop and start a lot (postal service, parcel deliveries, public transport,...).
There's talk about a fracture of the left clavicula but nothing confirmed yet.

I think the Froome "hate" is the byproduct of a couple of things....

1. I don't think his racing style is particularly fan-friendly... He wasn't the sort of rider that attacked or made the race (aside from that one Giro long range attack). He usually used his team to just grind down the competition and beat them inot submission. It was a successful strategy but it wasn't really exciting to watch.

2. I think that people will always have doubts about the fact that his performance was non-existent early in his career and then when he got to SKY he was a killer... that combined with a number of questionable activities surrounding SKY and TUE exemptions and special delivieries will always give people doubt.

Personally, I was never a big fan... It has been nice to see him come back from his huge injury and still race. I feel that his time has passed though, in terms of being a contender.

I don't whether to respect the guy for keeping at it when the results aren't there, or loathing him for collecting team leader salary that could better be spent hiring multiple young guys who have a prayer of getting a result or growing into good riders. It's not my money, but for sure he negotiated himself a hell of a good contract, especially given how things have gone for the past 5 years. Sylvan Adams has tried like hell to shame him into quitting but he hasn't managed it, so in that respect, Froome is definitely tough.

To add to point 2., after leaving SKY he is again "lanterne rouge", which adds to doubts in my opinion. Regardless of his injuries, were he such a talent he would come back competitive, wouldn't he? Bernal did for instance and he also sustained major injuries.
