Same story everywhere. It's a governmental problem. Make it so that locals benefit from tourism and they'll love it and support it. i.e. don't allow outsiders buy homes so easily, convert to airbnb's or build stores etc to suck up all the business.

Ofcourse, it's human nature to attack what they can see. And what they see day to day is a bunch of non natives enjoying life and being loud and obnoxious etc.

Happens here too. Example : Most people can't buy a house in the Bay Area anymore, even with double 6 figure income. They get priced out by banks who pay cash and rent it out. So they move to Bend, Portland, Seattle, Boise, Austin. They can easily afford homes there. Hell, buy 2 and airbnb one out. Effectively making it impossible for THOSE people to buy homes where they are.

So what do people do? See bunch of CA plated Teslas and hate Californians. Thing is, those people are out where they were as well.

So go yell at the government and banks who are ruining it for all of us.

Anyway kinda off topic but it's really the same theme.

Another data point on Sardinia...

I've just got back from 8 days there - 3 in Orosei (East) and 5 in Palau (North-East). I only had 2 days of riding but I wouldn't recommend the North-East as a cycling destination - not many roads, most of them are also very busy and very narrow. Gravel might have been a better option, likewise further inland would probably have been quieter/better.

Sardinia Cycling where good to rent from though, well priced and easy to deal with.

Thanks!

Thinking seriously in going there for November but information is so scarce... With a splendid topography and landscape is a bit strange they don't bet more on this type of tourism...
I know the trails are phenomenal for XC/ enduro
