Same story everywhere. It's a governmental problem. Make it so that locals benefit from tourism and they'll love it and support it. i.e. don't allow outsiders buy homes so easily, convert to airbnb's or build stores etc to suck up all the business.

Ofcourse, it's human nature to attack what they can see. And what they see day to day is a bunch of non natives enjoying life and being loud and obnoxious etc.

Happens here too. Example : Most people can't buy a house in the Bay Area anymore, even with double 6 figure income. They get priced out by banks who pay cash and rent it out. So they move to Bend, Portland, Seattle, Boise, Austin. They can easily afford homes there. Hell, buy 2 and airbnb one out. Effectively making it impossible for THOSE people to buy homes where they are.

So what do people do? See bunch of CA plated Teslas and hate Californians. Thing is, those people are out where they were as well.

So go yell at the government and banks who are ruining it for all of us.

Anyway kinda off topic but it's really the same theme.

Another data point on Sardinia...

I've just got back from 8 days there - 3 in Orosei (East) and 5 in Palau (North-East). I only had 2 days of riding but I wouldn't recommend the North-East as a cycling destination - not many roads, most of them are also very busy and very narrow. Gravel might have been a better option, likewise further inland would probably have been quieter/better.

Sardinia Cycling where good to rent from though, well priced and easy to deal with.

Thanks!

Thinking seriously in going there for November but information is so scarce... With a splendid topography and landscape is a bit strange they don't bet more on this type of tourism...
I know the trails are phenomenal for XC/ enduro

I would heartily recommend Andalusia - probably the best warm weather cycling destination I've been to
+1 for Andalusia.
Been to Malaga for 2 weeks and had a great time with my bike!
How was your experience in Malaga? I am planning a trip there and am in contact with a guide from https://gowithguide.com/spain HE is suggesting Alcazaba, Gibralfaro Castle, Picasso Museum, and Malaga Cathedral. Can you please recommend something as well?

How is March in Mallorca?
We are considering going for the whole month. Are we going to be able to ride in short bibs? (arm warmers/jackets are ok) or is it still too cold?
We have spent both February and March last year close to Malaga and it was perfect but I am afraid Mallorca might be colder.

I went end of January last year and rode in SS jersey and bibs the whole time. Chilly in the mornings and evenings but that was it. You'll be fine in March.

You'll see everything in march on any given day: people in winter kit while others are wearing short sleeves and bibs.
Also depends where you're riding. Flat area in the south will be much warmer than the tramuntana.

Look at climate tables and decide for yourself.

I was there in April '24. On the flats and climbs short short was perfect. On the descends I was happy that I brought a wind jacket with longer sleeves.

Thanks guys. It seems March is borderline fine. We don't have winter kits with us but we always carry arm warmers/jackets/wind jackets and often long gloves for descents.

Yeah I have and it looks similar to Malaga in February (so fine in my book). I just hope the mountains aren't much colder. They are not that high afterall and if usual -6.5C degree per 1000m applies it would be perfect.

I spent one week in Mallorca in December 2023. I would say that Mallorca is a very good starting point for people who are beginning to explore cycling tourism. However, as some of you may have pointed out, in the end, you might find yourself just repeating the same climbs in the Tramuntana mountain range because there aren't many options on the east side of the island.

As an aspiring climber, I really enjoy going somewhere else, like Tenerife and Gran Canaria. The scenery there is stunning, as is that of the Dolomites. Still, these places are primarily focused on elevation gains, which could be discouraging for other cyclists.

For those of you looking for an Asian adventure, I would recommend Taiwan. It has a strong road cycling and bike touring culture. Being an Asian country with high population density, it’s easier to get supplies from everywhere. They have a variety of terrains, ranging from shorelines to mountains 3,000 meters high. The Taiwan KOM is one of the toughest races in the world.
