Hi, where are you based and what is it you want to insure? Your bike or yourself? Bike box? You can get combinations of the above, they're not necessarily always all included as standard.toride wrote:Popping off to Gran Canaria next week and thinking I’d get some insurance, any one suggest a decent company I should look up ?
Am I right you're in the UK? I've got my bike and public liability with Pedalcover but I've never had to claim so I can't comment on that side of things. FWIW my friend has insurance with Laka and his bike got destroyed in transit (long story and it's unlikely to happen to anyone else). He had no problems getting it replaced. He then broke the replacement in a crash and they replaced that too. I'm beginning to suspect he's the reason premiums are so high.
Anyway, I think you can just pay monthly and then cancel after your return if you only want insurance for the trip. Usual caveats apply, read the small print and make sure whatever you insure is described in full with receipts, photos etc. Check who underwrites the company.
Enjoy GC. Fantastic cycling there.
I’m using a hired bike on the island but it will have a good few of my items .. power pedal, garmin, restrap luggage with all the usual stored added to the bike, the company Free motion offer insurance but I thought I’d get my own as I feel better about it.

Ah, ok. Sorry, I'm not sure about that. Maybe check with your home insurance? Or perhaps you could try asking one of the specialist companies I mentioned.
Freemotion is a big operation, they have shops all over the Canaries and about 6 in GC alone. I've never used them and have no affiliation but I'd be surprised if they didn't have decent insurance.
