I agree, disappointed in the weight of this box. I just received mine and the weight is roughly 17.5kg box + protection.
Have you had a chance to use BBA before? I'm currently debating those two and I like both, there's just so much info and reviews about BBA that it makes me lean more towards that option.
I just wish I had time to wait for black friday, I'm a bit disappointed that their shipping from UK to Ireland costs 110 GBP in 2024...hell, I ordered a saxophone from Japan recently and that has to be handled waaaay more carefully than an empty box, and the shipping was not even 30 euros.

The more effort taken to protect the vulnerable parts of a bike, the safer it will be.
Chain Off
Pedals Off
Rear mech Off
Saddle/post Off
Individual frame tubes covered in pipe lagging material. Removed parts padded or kept inside adequate containers.
Chainset & chainring teeth protected from scratching & contact if box dropped etc. Rear dropouts/stays protected against being squashed/snapped.
Think of how you would feel if you unpacked your box to find, bent chainring teeth, a snapped frame or scatches from inside the box like a chain rattling against a painted frame or components contacting each other. Only you can safeguard this at the packing stage.
It takes me about 45mins to pack away my bike for a flight, this was longer when I was new to cycle travel, without practice. I always pack my box with cycle clothing & nutrition etc to pack out the redundant space with soft, sympathetic items.
I have witnessed so terribly packed bike cases which make me shudder to think what state it would all arrive in at the other end. Tools, pedals & such literally dropped in through a gap, last minute.
What case do you use?

It's a clamshell style fibrous copy of a bike box Alan I think. It's not the greatest but I've been away with it about 8/9times now & it does the job.
I've slowly learnt the best method to pack it, what goes in where & how best to protect my bike. I remove the bars from the stem, take the RD off from the hanger & protect it/attach to frame with zip ties. Protect chainring teeth, support the dropout/stays from being crushed, remove seatpost, protect STI levers & so on. Cutting corners with the packing could result in tears at the other end.

Mine is 19.9kg with the frame rug and wheel covers. A lot more than the 15.5kg they advertise it at!
Not a huge problem with my 6.8kg road bike but it was a struggle to get my gravel bike plus a few tools and bits and pieces under the max 32 allowed by most airlines.
