EU destination for spring (March-ish / Significant other friendly)

Work is taking me to Lisbon in early March and after my job finishes I'll be riding 7 days in Algarve region. I'll likely stay in Albufeira which has a better nightlife scene than the other towns but I'm looking forward to riding somewhere other than Spain Which I've done on 3 previous trips. By all accounts the weather should be good temperature wise and hopefully dry.

Lanzarote or Fuerteventura should not be overlooked either. Lanzarote is hugely popular for training as they have their Playitas resort. There's a version of it on Fuerte as well.

My brother in law went to Madeira recently and I asked about the road cycling possibilities there.
It's probably not one of the better options.
Roads not in very good condition (understatement), super steep.
He saw basically no road cyclists.

That's unfortunate. I will have to remove Madeira from my list then. But thanks anyway.

Yeah Madeira is an MTB destination

So windy over there though. Fuertaventura really didn't appeal to me when I went on a holiday about 5 years ago. I took some kit/shoes as I intended to hire a bike for couple days, but the roads & wind just put me off. Plenty of triathletes pounding the tarmac however.

We love Costa del Sol - the part to the east of Malaga (everywhere between Malaga and Torrox is fine, two recommendations are Rincon de la Victora and Torre del Mar). A lot of routes to choose from, very nice beaches, walks along the sea, access to stores/restaurants/etc.
We prefer this part to Tenerife. It's not as spectacular but for everyday riding there are more choices of long and short routes and they are beatiful as well.
West of Malaga where all the major resorts are is not so good for cycling though.
We planned to go to Canary Islands again this year but liked this part of Spain so much we stayed there most of the winter and spring (we are leaving in about a week).

Gran Canaria was extremely windy too. Did have some fun on the way back on my trips, doing 50+kph with zone 2 heart rates
