130g lighter than before, 1360g aero wheelset that is still non-hookless. Price tag is pretty steep at $3800 and I believe these are a limited edition.

These wheels are obviously designed and constructed (by hand) for very competitive racing. Yes, they are laughably expensive, and should be of no concern unless you are a competitive racer and your team buys your stuff. Otherwise, they existing Rapid wheelsets are very well designed and built. I would argue that even they are primarily focused on comptetive racers.

Looking forward to see actual weights of these. They are crazy expensive compared to other Roval Rapide CLX, and the 26mm tire are not that useful really. But they do offer a pretty compelling package. The Roval Rapide rim shape is the best Allrounder I know of. Firstly, they are THE BEST wheels I've ever ridden in strong and gusty winds, and secondly they are extremely fast. I've tested the Rapide front wheel in the wind tunnel on my TT bike vs the 100mm AEOX Titan, an the difference was 1.8W at 45kph.
They are hooked, wide enough to make 28 and even 30mm tires work, and as light as a PCW wheel, which is even more expensive.
Again, they are not a great deal or anything, but very likely as good of a wheel as you will get.
Cervelo P5 Disc (2021) 9.1kg
Factor Ostro Gravel (2023) 8.0kg
S-Works SL8 (2023) 6.3kg

*weights are race ready, size 58/L.

I would have bought a set to replace my two sets of CLs if they didn't sell out on the site instantly.

It'll be interesting to see it these get a full retail model once the dust has settled.

specialized bs is working overtime. most mainstream 60-70 deep rims outperform the rovales. tour mag tested and the rovale tested at 218 watts vs dura ace/dtswiss at 216 watts.

I mean 60-70mm is a good 1-2cm taller. It would be stupid if they aren’t faster than a 51/60mm wheels.

I like the overall specs. Aesthetic is good but the white only decals are a bit much. Depth is all rounder, weight is competitive for a wheel not using carbon spokes. They are hooked and can take multiple size tires efficiently. I hope that’s what the clx3 will be, and cheaper.

For now this is a hype wheels. Good thing they are limited to 1500 set. That t2/t5 bundled tires are just not competitive. No reason whatsoever to use them.

In Hunt's test, published in their white paper, the Roval outperformed all the other top competitors, they were about 4w faster than the Shimano's. I've seen similar results elsewhere, so I do question the Tour results. In any case, the differences between most of the top wheels is pretty marginal at best.

As soon as I see "Tour tested..." I stop reading the post.

Cross referencing test data. Not sure if useful, given they don't use the same protocol.

I will buy them when they come out with black decals, and without all that stuff that I really don't need. And hopefully a bit cheaper. I mean, they must be selling these as CLX III or something as the design and engineering is done, all they have to do is manufacture and sell, so it's a cash cow now. They would be stupid not to do it. I reckon in 2-3 months we will see them.

It'll be interesting to see what they do.

A third generation of the exactly same rim profile would be brave. My first thoughts were that the new hubs and spokes were for a new rim that isn't ready yet and these were just a stock dump, but they changed the layup to get these rims lighter so maybe the CLX iii really will just be the team with black hubs and decals
