Alex Howes rode an as-yet unreleased pair of Zipp Firecrest wheels for Unbound 2024. On the Geek Warning podcast Dave asked Alex what the internal width of the wheels Alex was riding for Unbound 2024 and he says "no comment" then there was some awkward tension as Dave realised Alex is riding some new wheels.

They look super wide, as seen on Alex' Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/C7opUJ_OWHu ... BiNWFlZA==

Niki Terpstra seems to have been riding the same wheels. You can get a close look on Ben Delaneys bike review at https://youtu.be/vWJ3XnrdvQc?t=298

What are peoples guesses at the internal and external width of these?

Paul Voss also used the same wheels, as mentioned in the product rumors thread:

The rims have higher profile than the current 303 wheels, so could it be more like 404 XPLR?

The images from X of Valtteri Bottas show how wide the rim is: zoom into the second and third images for example.

Based on what I heard was being discussed in Emporia (buddy of mine was at the race), I'm going to go ahead & guess at:

External - wide enough to reset the aero gravel arms race
Internal - so wide you probably won't want to ride them!

I'm going to guess 40mm external, 30mm internal, hookless, and 60mm deep.

Rose GC50 front rim is 40 mm wide, even wider than the new DT Swiss GRC 1100/1400. :o

It gets more interesting now. I was chatting to a store owner on tonight's group ride & he's been told that these new wheels will specify exactly which tyre is compatible. I guess Goodyear will be one since they just made a tyre especially for the 303 & 353.

But to me this doesn't sound like this new wheel will be following ETRTO

Yes, just a lot shorter with far fewer options!
