One thing I've learnt from this thread is that brr puncture scores aren't representative of real world puncture protection.

Installation: Tires went on very easy with just hands and some soapy water on Roval Rapide CLX IIs. I did have some trouble getting them inflated even with a compressor. I ended up using a tire lever to partially seat the bead opposite of the valve stem to get them to inflate. Once inflated, they seated very securely and even after I let the air out they stayed on well. They measured at 29.2MM on 21 wide internal wheels after installation. They weighed 217 grams. They feel very thin and fragile -- If I had not seen the BRR data saying they had decent puncture resistance, I would not have installed them.
Ride: The tires feel very compliant and fast. The best comparison would be the old Specialized Turbo Cotton tires with latex innertubes. Grip was very good on roads with some damp areas - did some steep climbs on wet road and had very good traction. This is best feeling tire I have ever ridden. I replaced a set of Michelin Power CUP TLRs so that is the direct comparison.
At the end of the ride, I measured them again, and they had expanded to 29.9 on 21 wide internal. I really liked the way they ride but need more time to see how durable they are. Roads I was on were pretty bad as it had rained the day before so there was plenty of debris but I did not get any punctures.

Thank you for the feedback!
Please keep us posted on durability/longevity.
I just retired my set of 29s after 1250mi/2k. I had one flat on rear while using that sealed with dynaplug but it was on a day with wet roads. The front tire looks good, rear was squared off and definitely different rubber compound had come through on the middle. I would have given them a few more miles but I rode across a repaired road and got tar/rocks stuck to the tires. I will run these again next summer (if nothing better comes out) as they are great tires for maximum performance/feel at the expense of tire life. I put Michelin Power Cup 28s on in their place, and it was a significant downgrade from the Racedays.
Also - mine measured exactly 27 on 19mm internal 8.7 rims.

So I just found out about these tires. Seem quite interesting with the 3 godilocks combination of real fast CRR, good grip, and not so bad puncture protection (but nothing to write home about), which gives me a few ideas:
1. You can run quite a lot of sealant for safety due to the tire low weights.
Example - 30mm Corsa Pros are easily 300g. This 29mm enve is just 215g. You can do 80mm sealant just to be sure and it would probably help boost the puncture resistant?
2. Pair with somewhat wide 23-25mm int rims, so that you have good contact patch and less susceptible to snake bites puncture. (I mean it's made for Enve wheels after all).
3. When all that fail, you can still put tubes in since the tires are very light anyways.
Using these tires (29mm) alreadyt save almost 200g over a pair of 30mm Corsa Pros / GP5000 S TR. That's more than the difference between an S-Works and non-S-Works frame. That's 200 euro to save 200g instead of 2500 euro difference between 10/12r specialized.
Obviously I am basing my thoughts with weight saving in mind. Others might not care as much.
If they ride as nice as Turbo Cotton with latex, and last somewhat decent amount of kms, I will have try them out!

First rear flat this weekend.(1100mi+). star pattern so obviously a shard of glass. Sprewed copius amount of milk, but too slow to seal. Stabbed with a dynaplug and hit with a blast from the AS2Pro and Im on my way.

Could be wrong, but I doubt they will ride as well as TC w/latex. That is a very high bar!ichobi wrote:So I just found out about these tires. I noticed that the 29mm Race days blow up quite wide on my wheels. I'll try the 27mm's next if I'd go for them again. The 29mm weighs 215g, I'm assuming the 27mm will way even less (!!). So you could probably save around 225g's in total if you'd go for the 27mm.
Be aware though, it's quite scary when you have these tires in your hands. They feel incredibly flimsy, thin and light. And you need to be ready to face some flats. The puncture protection seems to be lower than BRR identified.
Still, for some specific rides/races I'd still be happy to mount them. For training, for every day riding etc they are really not a viable option though in my mind.
flats are the luck of the draw sometimes.. for example this is my flat count for the first 2000mi on my last 4 sets
Enve Race Days (2) only 1100 mi. (1 was a large rock strike)
Michelin Power Cups (3)
Continential 5000STR (4)
Schwalbe ProOne TT - lost count.

True true, it will always be N=1 experiences so it will remain a bit anecdotal. We won't have any standardized real world data of a larger population.spdntrxi wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2024 2:09 pmflats are the luck of the draw sometimes.. for example this is my flat count for the first 2000mi on my last 4 sets

I ride about 10-12k per year and typically on good Dutch roads. The only flat I had in the last 2 years was with the Race days. All other holes were fixed by the sealant without me noticing it. The enve really flatted and I a plug couldn't fix it either.
On the other hand, I still have the Race day on the front for a couple of months now and that one has been flawless.
