Hi Just ordered these from Wheelsfar:
Extralite Hubs Cyber SP
35mm Kaze Tubular Rim Brake
Sapim Super CX-Ray Spokes
Has anyone had this combination, or close to and what experiences have you had? I've heard the 1:1 gear ration could be an issue, has anyone found this?
Weight is coming in at 954g so looking good to take Factor o2 Down to 4.8KG.

Its stated on their website :
'CyberRear freewheel mechanisms are suitable for road and cyclocross use (and not MTB) with a maximum shortest ratio of 1:1.
Shorter ratios may produce excessive torque and damage freewheel mechanism.'
https://www.extralite.com/Products/CyberRear%20SP-2.htm
Im not 100% certain why? guess thats why I'm asking the question.

OK, So I guess this means a larger rear sprocket say a 32 (with a 30 front) puts more load on the rear cassette, which is potentially too much for just 2 contact points with the freehub ratchet.
Am I understanding this correctly?

Not been an issue on Mavic or Hope hubs. Maybe Extralite have skimped on their springs?

that's essentially what they are saying. greater than 1:1 is a lot of torque going through very light components. the strength of the very light axle is probably a factor too. i personally think the two pawl system is an unnecessary weight saving with hit being so minimal. blasphemy in this forum, i know!Pistol2208 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:59 pmOK, So I guess this means a larger rear sprocket say a 32 (with a 30 front) puts more load on the rear cassette, which is potentially too much for just 2 contact points with the freehub ratchet.

What pro rider was it a long time ago, maybe in the Tour, who crashed hard when his freewheel slipped under high torque. The mechanic had reduced the pawls from 6 to 3 to save weight and this allowed the freewheel body to distort under load. Anyone remember this?

I think that was Tyler Hamilton, and I recall hearing it was done to save drag when coasting rather than weight. Clearly not a smart move as I believe he injured his shoulder.Miller wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 6:01 pmWhat pro rider was it a long time ago, maybe in the Tour, who crashed hard when his freewheel slipped under high torque. There’s a big difference between altering an existing product and not designing it properly in the first place.Miller wrote:What pro rider was it a long time ago, maybe in the Tour, who crashed hard when his freewheel slipped under high torque.
