Almost the perfect wheels, except for the price... and hookless.
If there is one thing I would change about the Syncros Capital SL specs, it's the 25mm internal width (at least with the Capital SL (F/R) and Capital SL Aero (R), as the Capital SL Aero (F) is 24mm). The 25mm internal width precludes the use of some great tires, including the GP5000S TR 28c, GP5000TT TR 28c, and Corsa Speed TLR 28c (if/when Vittoria ever offers that size). Yes you can use a GP5000S TR in 30c, but not the GP5000 TT or other tires that are max'd out at 28c. It's almost like Syncros made the internal width a mere 1mm too wide in order to preclude using 28c tires, though (interestingly enough) partner Schwalbe's tires are approved to use in a 28c size. See https://www.syncros.com/us/en/tire-compatibility. Would like to see BRR test the Crr of the Schwalbe Pro One TT and new Schwalbe Pro One Aeros to see how they stack against the GP5000TT TR and other comparable 28c tires.

One final note: the Zipp 353 NSW wheels also have a 25mm internal width but those wheels are officially compatible with 28c tires, including the GP5000TT TR 28c. See https://www.sram.com/en/zipp/campaigns/ ... patibility. As for why Syncros says 28c tires won't work, there's a whole thread on that subject (viewtopic.php?f=132&t=172877), though again notable that Schalbe's 28c tires nonetheless get the seal of approval.

Anyone with these on order get any recent updates on ETA? Back in August, shop told me Dec/Jan, so I will wait a few weeks before checking in with them (trying to avoid being the "Are we there yet?" customer) but curious if anyone has heard anything on availability.

That's frustrating, why announce a product when you know it won't be available for a year and a half?

Such a shame these arent actually availble. Looks like one of the best wheels available, at least on paper. Would love to know if the hype is real.

It's been Scott's MO for the last 4 years or so. Create a bunch of hype and demand, deliver practically nothing for 2 years, then dribble in a bit of product thereafter ... the Addict Gravel was particularly bad, the new Foil a little bit better but still bad. These seem to be the worst yet.

By the time you can actually buy them, I don't think there will be many takers at the originally advertized price. But yeah, design looks great, hookless aside which is a probably a dealbreaker for at least 50% of the people here.

Everything not on a floor at a bike shop that is SCOTT is literally FALL of 2024 availability. A bit of joke at this point. :(

Its kind of a Scott meme at this point that buyers should be aware of. If it didnt come on the bike you cant get it in a timely manner. Good luck finding a replacement for most of the proprietary and even simple parts from Scott. Also expect them to randomly revise the part for new bike models and then end of life the old version while claiming backwards compatibility that is only partially true.

Amazing bikes but their supply chain is a huge mess for small parts. I say this as an owner of a Scott bike too not just poking fun at them.

It sucks for the end consumer but must be hell for bike shops supporting Scott bikes.

These wheels push the limits so expect obtaining them to be even harder as I'm assuming they are harder to produce than a standard wheelset.
