Hello,

I want a new wheelset with DT180 or DT240 hubs. I have several wheelsets with these hubs and Ilove them. My current road wheels are Zipp 303 FC and Zipp 353. I hate the hubs in these. They make noise and I killed bearings on one of the front hubs.

My question is this. What will give me a better and faster wheel? A Reserve or a Light-Bicycles wheel? I was thinking 40-44mm depth.

Lightbicycle has more options that Reserve, but if you want a profile silimar to the reserve 40/44, you can go with either the WR40 or WR45. The LB WR have 25mm int/ 32mm ext, while the reserve are front: 25.5mm int/ 33mm ext and rear: 25mm int/ 31mm ext. The LB set will be cheaper and more customizable. I have a set of WR40 flyweights laced to DT Swiss 240 hubs with cx-ray spokes that came out to ~1350g and $1200 + shipping. The 40/44 from reserve with 240 hubs are 1388g and $2199. I have three sets of LB wheels (road: AR56/dtswiss 350, gravel WR40/dtswiss 240, and track R88/phill wood) and they're all great.

Too many variables in your equation.

What is "fast"? Whats your typical ride in terms of the elevation profile?

Why not just change the hubs in your Zipps?

Reserve 40/44s with DT240s are solid. I have two sets and love them. Reserve also has excellent customer service, which is something I highly value these days (and especially for wheel manufacturers). The DT350 hub option isn't bad by any means though if you want to save a little money.

Got 40|44 with DT350 on sale. Added 54T ratched just recently. Pretty happy with that choice.
No other wheels on that bike so far, but might be able to compare to few other sets soon.

Nice! only drawback to this combo would be a little extra weight vs the Reserve wheelsets with the lighter DT hubs. but better imo to just have a superlight climbing wheelset for races with 8k + of climbing, etc. if not racing stuff like that, who cares.

No racing. Heavyweight rider with wide/comfy versatile wheelset that can take some beating. Would love to get two "opposite sets of wheels", such as Rerserve 52/63 and some light but cannot justify it.
I'm planning on trying a bit lighter setup: same 25mm internal, but 30mm deep, sub-1400gm set. Curious if I can notice the difference.
