This was confirmed by some hanging scales, with the front coming in at 650g and the rear weighing 770g (with rim tape, but without cassette, disc rotors, tires or tubes).

Claimed weight by Fulcrum is 1495g. No further information on whether this is with or without lockrings and valves.

I weighed my Speed 57 wheelset and got the following: front 700g, rear 820g (shimano freehub) = 1520g actual weight. This is including lockrings but without the valves (6g per piece).

So a 25g (or 1,67%) weight difference, minimally heavier than claimed.

Chinese wheel manufacturers are so far ahead tho, and for basically half the price.
For example
Elite drive 50D 50mm 21/28mm 1300g ~1000€

Farsports Hyper with carbon spokes: 50mm 24/30mm 1205g ~1000€

CRW 5055 50/55mm 21/28 1250g ~1700€


All hooked


Case and point: I made my Light Bicycle AR56 three years ago myself with Novatec hubs and pillar 1420 spokes (CX ray equivalent) and payed 550€ in parts: 56mm 23/30mm and 1496g on the scale

While I respect your purchase decisions I am really suprised about and a bit tired of the regularity with which off-topic mentions of Chinese brands are popping up on every discussion. I did my research and decided not to buy Chinese wheels.

Also, the premium I paid compared to a set of Elite or Farsports wheels was only about 300€. Personally I regard that as my "peace of mind" premium. Finally, made in Europe is also a factor in my book.

The point is there are a lot of competing wheelset products available.

Yes, the Chinese brands are ahead in some areas such as low weight and carbon spokes, but that's not important for every customer.

Many customers will pay 'more' for piece of mind offered by a brand sold by their local LBS/website in their country.

There are also other products from Prime and VEL which undercut the Chinese manufacturers, although admittedly they are not the most up to date designs.

The main thing is that customers have a wide range of choices.

Thanks buddy! It is exactly the weight of my set of Bora Ultra WTO 60. How the weight are being distributed between the hub and rim is gonna make the difference in acceleration / momentum.

Would be interesting to see how it weigh up against 2024 revised Bora Ultra WTO 60 (also 23mm int width).

Re: let's put aside the Chinese rims. I have 2.5 sets of LightBicycle wheels and the rim finishing just inferior to Fulcrum/Campy. Put it the other way, if you pay 300 more to LB, they still couldn't make what Campy / Fulcrum are making. The hub and rim are designed as a whole rather than just bolt-on random hubs. How it values to individuals is up to debate. Please open another thread.

Wheel weight is usually quoted as only the wheels - no valves, no lockrings, no rim tape (if required)...so your wheelset is pretty much spot on.

And usually use Sram hub as reference, since Shimano is slightly heavier.
