If this is true, then the S TR is a downgrade from the TL!

S TR is supposed to be 50g lighter according to Conti. BRR measured them as 40g different im 25mm size. But you have a TL that is just 2g more than an S TR, wirh much better puncture protection.

I've fitted so many tubeless tyres and I found the TL's were the hardest I've ever found to fit and then really hard to seat.

In comparison the S TR's fit on several different rims with only hands and inflate each time with a track pump.

That alone is a significant upgrade for me.

The bead tightness is completely unrelated to the other properties. They could have loosened the bead and kept the rest the same.

Just got a new pair of STRs, never bothered weighing my tyres before but this thread made me wonder.

28mm: 278g
30mm: 303g

Both are within 2-3g of claimed weight.

My Challenge Criterium RS's crapped the bed today, so I ordered a pair of GP5000 TT TR 28's today. I ordered from Starbike as they had the best price on the seemingly hard to find TT TR. Hopefully the shipping companies do their part as that bike it a paperweight until I get the new tires.

I only used the TLs on one wheelset. Yes tight but went on by hand by making sure the bead was in the low part of the rim bed when getting the last part on. Have one on the front now. Seated with the track pump.

Haven't used S TR. Wont pay that much for a bicycle tyre.

I agree 5K TL is the hardest to mount, but it's one of the easiest to seat on my wheel. I even once used a mini pump GM81 seating ot in the garage.

That is a good price! Where from?
Still over $100 AUD here.
They were 130.
For reference when I bought tyres for my Suzuki Swift runabout 70k km ago they were less than that each. Not cheapest either, Michelins.

I no longer race as I am an old fart now. If I did I would pay more I suppose.

Yeah used Corsa n.ext, GP5kTL, P-zero race, Power road. Whatever I have been able to find at a reasonable price. All tubeless. No "garden hoses".
Have not seen 5kS TR at under 100AUD yet.
Have not looked for a while though as I still have a few tyres in the drawer at home.

First impressions are huge and unfortunately the GP5K S TR take a couple rides to fully break in.

What are you using now

Power Cup TLR. Recently got the Tufo Comtura Prima and will try those out when it warms up.

One of my bikes still has well worn S TR and I'll change those when they're dead.
