It makes sense.
I read Duke's "narrative" and they clearly subcontract the rims.
But they claim they are "owner" of the molds.
Their "technology" and QC looks to be focused around wheel building and a few hub models assembly.
Maybe from more than one manufacturer for the rims, or some models are assembled for them by LB.
Is there other brands that claim to have that inside anti blurp "hook" in tubeless rims ?

Yes, there are plenty of models that Duke sell that are not from LB, or perhaps not available from LB as a single wheelset purchase.

Any recent experience with Duke rims?

I've got 8mo now on a set of Duke SLS2 ultras 56mm. The hubs are CarbonTi and spokes the Alpina hyperlite. Total weight w/ rim strips is 1351g. I run conti 5000TLs 25mm. The rim measures 28.1mm and the tire 26.7mm (@75psi). The shape is modern, and to me looks similar to Zipp 404 and Bontrager 6. I have no complaints about the wheels, and have ~400hr ride time on them. Lots of windy rides in there. I'm 63kg, so this is the deepest wheels I feel comfortable with. I think if I did it again I would opt for the 50mm Duke World Runner gravel rims and run them with 28mm tires. I've had good experiences with CarbonTi hubs. That said, I might like to try the Duke hubs, they check a lot of boxes, but loose the preload adjuster.

The Duke rear hub design is kind of great other than the cost of freehubs being a little more expensive. Essentially they have a single spring star ratchet like DT Swiss Ratchet EXP except the sprung ratchet is housed in the hub shell and the fixed ratchet is machined into the freehub body. This makes upgrading to higher PoE or replacing worn ratchets “toolless.”

I ride the rim version already for 25k km. Bomb proof and brake awesome. Recently my brother ditched his dt swiss 60mm wheels as they are unstable in wind and brake like shit for the 56mm sls2.
I ran the Ultras in 48/58 for a few 1000km and switched them to the baccara x in 56. They are fitted with 26mm Pirelli's and are awesome. Laced to tactic hubs and now 5k further no issues and sing in the wind I will maybe try TL as they seem to run a tad smaller then the 28mm clinchers I want to try. They blow up to 29.3 and the rim is 29.7 . Tires fit very nice

I mostly build wheels using Duke rims. Lot of differents rims, after sales is top-notch. If you are living in EU, it's a big advantage (in case of problem, I get a new rim in a few days).

I've just finished a rear wheel with their new MadMax hub, Lucky Jack Ultra 28 rims, Sapim CX-Ray spokes, Peaty's tubeless valves. Final weight is 638 g !

I have a pair of world runner gravel 38 rims laced to dtswiss 240 hubs. Amazing wheels, good weight for a 25mm inner width rim (1360gr). The rims look very good quality too.

Any feedback on lateral stiffness? I'm considering some Baccarra Ultra 42mm with their madmax hubs and CX-ray at ~1260g

Specific reason for going with the ultra ? I had them and had them switched to Baccara x. Same weight for rated to 120kg instead of 95kg. Absolutely love my 56 at 1290 with tactic hubs. Weight difference between x and ultra is 5gr and that is not accounting for error margin. So I see no use in the ultra version

I would know how to rate lateral stiffness I have no brake rub they feel comfortable with 26 Pirelli's and they are very easy to ride even in blustery wind conditions

Anyone built any Duke Baccara X 48 rims with DT Swiss hubs (either 180 or 240) and ca shed some light on final weight? Some sites are stating a weight of 1336 grams (180) or 1394 grams (240), both with CX-Rays pokes. Kind of thinking of going either the way of ERC1100/1400 or custom with Duke rims.
I am like 85 kgs so the idea of 28 spokes front/rear would help me with some stiffer wheels.

That's heavy but depends on what nipples they use too. But like mine 1290 tactic hubs which are about 50gr lighter the dt180 but the rims total is also around 50gr lighter in 48
But mine are built with cx ray all around. I'm around 72kg

I can share the weight of my X36 I built recently from Ruedascustom. Their quoted weight was 1201g (on their site - https://ruedascustom.com/en/duke-baccar ... raightpull - with Carbon Ti hubs and CX-Ray spokes). The wheels ended up being 1203g. So go check X48 on their webshop, it should be the closest to exact weight. JP Racing (Duke is their brand) had a heavier quote for X36 wheels which got me worried initially. But Ruedascustom was correct and I would trust what they say (I checked and they quote 1337g with 240s and 1314g with 180s for X48).
