Winspace Hyper

I have never worn out a brake track on carbon rims. Probably because i we have more or less flat here compared to the more demanding climate/ zone or what the correct word is.

Just had this happening to me this weekend...I'm certainly not one who drags brakes down descents and I'm not 100kgs....

Essentialy the left pad got destroyed during the descent and I'm really not sure how. I was on swissstop flash evo.

Now I'm waiting for a reply from Winspace. Rim had very low mileage installed first in April or so.

I think they were decent pads but haven't compared them against others. Under the rain I confirm braking is ok but nothing more. Also, I cannot seem to find the original pads on the winspace online store. So any recommendation is welcome really.

Initially, I set up my Hyper's with Swissstop breakpads also thinking that premium breakpads would be needed to get great breaking performance. However, as you found out, the Swissstops did not last long at all and I went through an entire set in only a few weeks. Very disappointing. Turns out that the breakpads that Winspaces includes with the wheels are far better and have lasted me for more than a year and a half so far.

So my recommendation is to toss the Swisstops and go with the breakpads that Winspace sent you.

Coincidentally, I asked them which ones to order if I ever need a replacement and they said any "premium" breakpads will work.

Yeah, I also was disappointed in the Swiss pads.

they worked fine when first installed. After a 100k event with decent climbing and descending the stopping power faded significantly.

The process is not so straightforward.
You have to go to their "extra fees" page. Each set costs 15USD (so if you want two sets pick quantity 30). I was told then to choose the USD30 shipping option.

so I just received my set of Hyper SE R45. Their build quality is always praised by the influencers like PeakTorque, Hambini, Luescher Teknik etc.
I have to say they don't look nearly as nice as the Swiss Side wheels I checked out the other day (which were too narrow though).
There are some blemishes and also seemingly creases or lazy layup of the carbon fibres with the Hypers. The rim is perfectly smooth to the touch and absolutely true.
I don't really mind as long as it's not a safety concern. Would you rides these wheels?

Get them checked by a carbon repair specialist if you can or just contact winspace report the issue and return them. The impact of not fully trusting your wheels is worse than the trouble to return them, even if nothing happens.

Personally i would not even bother to get them checked and just return them.

Just saw on the Lun website that the Hypers has a $200 price hike for the 2023 Hypers. All others unchanged. Glad my set came in earlier this month!

Well it looks as though the cutting tool they've used is both not sharp enough to cut cleanly (looks like it rips the carbon rather than cuts it so there is minor delimination around the edges of each cut) and not precise (cause some of the cuts pass below the brake track edge). I'm pretty sure Zipp mould the ridges is rather than cut them in. I'd be on the fence about sending them back, but it might be worth raising it with them.

I personally wouldn't be worried about the wavy finish. Now the way they cut the brake tracks, looks pretty piss poor. I would send them back for the brake tracks. My BTLOS and Farsports grooves are very precisely cut (laser cut?).

OP here. Just go my new 2023 R45 Hypers today. I think they look pretty sick. Haven't had a chance to ride them yet, except for a few minutes around the block.

The 28s on there look enormous to me compared to the 25s that were on my original Hypers. That's gonna take some getting used to.

I hope this is not off-topic, i am also one of the people annoyed with the lack of clarity regarding the shipping status. My wheels were shipped using xdb, and the last available status is "Item is clearanced waiting pick up", one week ago, and the dpd shipping page still hasnt updated from "Wir haben die Auftragsdaten zu diesem Paket erhalten" (translation would be "we have received the order data for this package"). Has anyone experienced the same thing and can tell me how long i will approximately have to wait for my wheels?
