Any suggestions for a budget road tyre? Just something cheap and cheerful that works for an old fixie. Not tubeless, prob like 19 or even less internal rim..
I wouldn't skimp on a road tire, but I can usually find Continental GP5000's for half of MSRP. They come in 25c or even 23c, though the 23c is harder to find and thus not at as steep of discounts.
I've heard the Continental Ultra Sports aren'd bad for cheap tires, but not as good as the top tier tires.

Michelin Power Cup Clinchers can be picked up far less than GP5000's but offer a better feel and similar rolling resistance highly recommended .
for allah's sake, it's a rust bucket i'm going to ride to the train station that'll probably get stolen

Lol at these suggestions. Do people even read what is posted? Power cups and 5000's? This guy is looking for 10 dollar tires you can buy at a sporting goods store.

Michelin Lithion are not bad and you used to get £12 deals in the mk2 days, maybe not so cheap now.

You can find the folding Ultra Sports for £15 each. They're really not bad and feel so much better than the hosepipes available for around the same price.
They're also very long lasting.

Awesome. Ultra Sports it is! Picked up a pair from amazon pretty damn cheap.
This info would have been qiuet usefull then. In any case then buy whatever you want and find at a good price. If its "just" to ride to the trainstation then it doesnt matter if you are there 10s faster or not. Unless you loose the train because of the tire

Yeah back on gp5k s tr again after a stint with pzeros.CampagYOLO wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2024 6:50 amCool. The tread is thick as well which is good for a fixie. A couple of skids on a GP5000 or Power Cup and you'd already be worrying about replacing the rear tyre.
Never had 2 bikes until now, just picked up an old pug fixie for $50. Beats walking to the station in winter!
