Diminishing returns I know, but you can swap out the bolt that holds the rear hangar onto the frame to Ti, saving a whopping 2g! It's an M5 x 10 bolt fyi.
I know some people have done Alu (the sole purpose of this screw is to keep the hangar on the frame when you take the wheel out, i.e. nothing structural) but I was happier using Ti.

You can do that with the front derailleur hanger bolts and the seatpost wedge bolt as well. They are all steel.stevec1975 wrote:Diminishing returns I know, but you can swap out the bolt that holds the rear hangar onto the frame to Ti, saving a whopping 2g! It's an M5 x 10 bolt fyi.

Swap out the brake pads for K05TI-RX for some grams, been usimg these since Rhino built my bike up no issues eevn on the Mallorcan decents and Im no dainty ballerina!
I managed to get my 54cm down to 6kgs but that was with a THM Crank which I sold, and the stock post and berk saddle.
Bikes porked out a bit since then Berk saddle warrantied twice so swapped for Bjorn Setka 3D.
Went back to DA Crank, but currently eyeing up Cybrei Cranks and now have a darimo post would say now hovering around 6.3/4

Cybrei is sub 320g, uses a cinch lockring at around 5g (which is included with most weights people post), at a bit over $400 while SRAM Red E1 is sub 310g, uses 8 bolt at around 8g for stock steel bolts (which often is not included with most weights people post), at $400. So weights and cost are a bit of a wash between the two but SRAM is more established, easier to warranty, and likely will have better resale. Both can either use a non power spider at ~50g or power Chinese spider at ~105g. E1 can additionally use the heavier 166g Quarq DFour that you posted earlier with D1 and R9100 rings. Asethetically E1 are less visually bulky compared to Cybrei due to 8 bolt being smaller diameter at the sider attachment point.Sander7721 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 3:12 pmWent back to DA Crank, but currently eyeing up Cybrei Cranks
I can highly recommend E1 with Shimano rings. Also E1 graphics are easier to hide with vinyl wrap compared to D1 for a clean look without sanding and recoating which should also help preserve resale value.
Which bike box/bag did you use to transport your bike to the Alps? Just thinking about the integrated cockpit. Cheers.

I am thinking about E1 with an Xcadkey powermeter, and Shimano Rings, which would save c.100g all in (Mainly as I want to go to 167.5/170mm arms, and could use the existing setup on my spare spare bike)OtterSpace wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2024 7:52 pmCybrei is sub 320g, uses a cinch lockring at around 5g (which is included with most weights people post), at a bit over $400 while SRAM Red E1 is sub 310g, uses 8 bolt at around 8g for stock steel bolts (which often is not included with most weights people post), at $400. Not sure if the non profiled PM into Shimano rings junction would look great though..

I didn't. We have 4 guys drive 2 vans out there (loaded with 30+ bikes and kit) and then we all just fly out with a small backpack. Soo much easier!

Wow, impressive weight!
I posted it in tha SL8 thread, but got no responses and got quickly buried by other posts, so posting here.
Got my new S Works bike build.
It's 7.1kg with:
Matte black blue cyan frameset size 54
Roval integrated Rapide handlebar 115/38, slammed
Full R9270 with 11-34 and Quarq DZero PM, 165mm
S Works bottle cages
Wahoo mount from Roval
RT MT900 140-160 rotors
CLX50s from 2019 with 20-30ml sealant in each and GP5000S TR 28
S Works carbon saddle
Look Keo Carbon blade pedals
Lizard skins DSP V2 1.8mm bar tape
Is this a normal weight? I was expecting a lot less!
From what I gather, to lower the weight, I could:
Speed play Nano, savings 150g
Saddle (but I like mine), savings 150g
Wheels, lots of options, but I like mine, savings 200-300g
Various small hardware, savings 40g
Are the Speedplay my only realistic and easy upgrade?
Planning new wheels too in the winter.

Your frame will be roughly the same weight as mine.
Handlebar and Groupset likewise.
Most of the extra weight is no doubt in the wheels, some Farsports wheels will save 300g for a similar depth
S-Works Saddle over Berk Lupina is c. 100g extra
Things like Galfer over Shimano Rotors, Speedplay over Look Keo, MagCad over Roval mount, can save over 100g potentially.
Best start is to put together a spreadsheet with current weights and look for opportunities as stuff wears out. Either way, it will ride fantastic and look great (post a thread/pic when you get a chance)

Beautiful build, congrats!
Did you use the cable housing recommendation in the Spesh manual to get the front derailleur backing plate installed in the frame? Any tips for that?

No, my (backing plate) was already installed, so I just undid one of the bolts most of the way, pulled the DI2 Cable through, and tightened up.
If it's not pre-installed, you can loop a di2 wire through the frame hole into the BB, then thread the other end of the DI2 wire through the bracket's central hole and into the bolt hole, and pull the plate up through using the di2 wire in the frame hole, fairly easily.

Hi SteveC,
That is a really really nice build, love it and such an impressive weight for an electronic disc bike... I had an S-Works Tarmac SL6 a few years back with THM cranks, LW wheels, EE brakes and Campag and that came in at 6.1Kg but rim of course, so 6.29 is well good for a modern rig ... Light bikes just feel so nice on the climbs... !
Congrats and enjoy....
Cheers,
Lig.
