Over the winter I decided to put my 2015 Trek Boone 7 on a bit of a diet (along with myself), shaving grams where reasonable.

Overall, I reduced the weight of the bike by ~2.5 KG = 5.5 lbs (shaved 4.5KG off the rider also ;-) )

Out of ideas at this point (let me know if you spot any) - I could mess with Shifter/Brake cables, but that seems unnecessary and I like my ShockStop Pro suspension stem out front with the isospeed in the rear for comfort too much to ditch that. Could also trim the bar tape back on the aero bars.

Total bike weight (with 28mm Conti 5000 road tires on LB aero rims, and pedals) is now 7028g = 15.5lb. I run it as a road, trail and gravel bike (3 wheel sets from 28-> 32SK ->38SK) depending on the ride.

Here’s a list of the individual weight saving if it gives anyone ideas, it all adds up:
——————————
195g TPU Tubes (from Butyl)
94g Risk Skewers (from stock Bontrager)
400g Tires (from Graveling 38 SK to Conti 5000)
255g Pedals (from Crankbrothers Mallet E to Eggbeater 11)
84g Brakes (from Avid Shorty 6 to Avid Ultimate)
153g Shifters (from 105 to Dura-Ace)
106g Saddlebag (from Aeroclam to XLabs Mini)
66g Multitool (replaced multitool with hex wrenches)
44g Chain Guide (unneeded w/GRX clutch)
22g Stem Spacer (from stock bontrager to carbon)
100g Crank (replaced stock FSA with FSA light carbon)
36g Phone Mount (made a custom magnetic mount to attach my magbak case to Garmin stem cap)
8g Chain (removed 4 extra links)
112g Saddle (from Selle Italia Max SLR Gel Superflow to Prologo Dimension NDR Nack) could go lighter, but I like the comfy)
110g Cassette (from Ultegra 11-34 11 speed cassette to Chinese ZTTO 11-34 )
20g Bolts (from Steel to Titanium Stem, stem top cap)
80g Bottle Cages (from bontrager plastic to knock-off chinese carbon)
5g Bottle Cage Bolts (from steel to aluminum)
22g Headset Expander Plug (from stock bontrager to extradite ultra 4)
30g Bar End Plugs (from expandable to push-in carbon)
43g Bell (Spurcycle Bell removed - replaced with “on your left” at 0g)
132 Wheelset (LB Wheels AR56)
17g Direct Mount Derailleur Hanger
327g Shoes (from Giro Terraduo to Shimano RX8)
31g. Stem (swapped standard RockStop Stem to Pro)

======
Total Savings 2465g= 5.48bs
Bike went from 21lbs to 15.5lbs

Who said CX/Gravel/Trail/All-road bikes need to be heavy?
