Last Fall I picked up a damaged frame as a project. It was quite enjoyable to learn more about carbon repair practically and undertake a repair of my own. I initially though this frameset was a 2018 Teammachine SLR01 Module however after extensive digging it seems to be a 2019 Module initially paired with BMC's ICS01 Stem.

The goal with this bike, other than to gain some hands on experience with Carbon repair, was to build up a bike that would be hopefully as fast and responsive as my CAAD but with some additional comfort due to the better damping capabilities of carbon. I also was drawn to the false promise of *free* speed available by building this bike slightly aero focused. I say "False Promise" as I'm fully aware that as a casual cyclist I may never notice the difference on my weekend and evening group rides sitting in third wheel.

Also, it was possible to build the bike as an all rounder, a bit of aero and keep the bike weight under 7kg at the same time which feels like I am not straying too far from a weight weenie focus.

Last fall it was completed and built up with the following:

With the onset of the long dark and cold Canadian winter in the prairies I did all I could to tell myself this bike did not need any changes but eventually I got a bug and found the right deal. So this spring it will be built with R8050 and The One Pro cockpit in 38cm. I had been wanting a narrow bar to match my CAAD7 with 38cm bars.

The One Pro ended up being a great balance of weight, price and compatibility as it has ports for semi internal routing which neither of BMC's ICS Carbon or ICS Aero cockpits have and matches nicely to BMC Topcone #3

With all this said I will build it up in the next few weeks with the spec below and try to take out camera gear to get some proper photos.

Thanks for reading! Update to come. I'll also be sure to post detail photos of the Cockpit and Topcone setup as it seems to be a great option for rim brake setups.

I managed to get all the small parts I needed to build this up except for the RS910 Di2 Cover that's in the mail. So I scheduled in building it this morning. Quite happy with how it turned out and the weight! :D

It all built up nicely and now I'm itching to take it outside! A few more weeks before things warm up here sadly so I'll see if I can get some more time in on the trainer.
Some photo's taken inside using my wife's camera. I'll have to ask her to take some photo eventually as they'd look a lot nicer :noidea:

Great bike! Every time I jump on mine after not riding it for a while I am always shocked about how fast and comfortable it is. What did you repair on the frame?

I had to do a repair on the lower bottom of the down tube approximately in the middle of the bottle cage bolts. I'll have to put together a post at some point as it was a fairly in depth repair. Since I'm on a budget I had to do the repaint myself however I'm fairly happy with how it came out. Also since I stripped out the bad carbon before starting the repair the weight gain ended up being 14g which I was happy with as well.

Since the repair I've put about 1200km on this frame on a direct drive trainer which helped to monitor the quality of the repair.

I have access to some nice equipment so I also 3D printed a mold and laid up a custom carbon seat post yoke as it can be seen that the seatpost hardware is not the stock stuff. I made a couple and checked for voids by cutting open the first one, when I was happy I paired it with titanium bolts and J&L aluminum hardware for the top of the saddle rails. Total seatpost weight 169g vs 198.

Planning to swap the wheels out for a Deerobust build. Any alternatives to consider?
