So, after racing on some pretty incredible equipment for the past 4 years (S5 disc w/dura ace parts, a SW Tarmac SL6 w/dura ace parts) and being involved in a my fair share of crashes, I decided to do something a bit different for next year. After having to have both bikes repaired I was sick of ruining $5K frames.

I reached out to a few different aluminum frame manufactures and State Bicycle Co. responded with a deal I couldn't say no to.

So here we are, build will be a mismatch of parts that I have acquired over the years and new 12 speed Di2. This is specifically for crits. I won't be doing much training on this bike. I may pick up a 48T chainring and a rotor 11-39 12 speed cassette for traveling, as I prefer to travel with my metal bikes over carbon. Weights will come once the build starts in the next few weeks.

Frame: State Bicycle Co Undefeated Disc size 55cm
Fork: State Bicycle Co Carbon Road Disc
Stem: Zipp SL -6* 130mm
Bars: Zipp SL80 36cm
Seatpost: Hylix Offset 31.6mm
Saddle: Prologo Dimension NDR Nack
Wheels: Light Bicycle AR56 w/ Novatec hubs
Rotors: TRP
Tires: Veloflex Corsa Evo 28mm (will change for race season)
Crankset: Ultegra 6800 170mm
Chainring: Stone 54t NW 1x
Rear Derailleur: 105 Di2
Shifters: Ultegra 8100
Brake Calipers: Ultegra 8100
Chain: Ultegra 8100
Cassette: PrestaCycle 11-32 12 speed cassette
Pedals: Garmin Rally RS100 Shimano
Bar Tape: Not sure what its called, but see below.

Hoping to keep this under 8kg but I really don't know what to expect.

Have not weighed the frame yet. I'm guessing it is around 1500g. So no different than the current allez. I should have a frame and fork weight tomorrow.

Well the frame and fork are chunky, not off to a great start. The fork did have the expander in it. Frame weight includes hanger and all bolts, but no bearings. The cable stops will be coming off the chainstay as this is a Di2 build. There is a hole in the end of the chainstay but it's going to require some massaging of the hole and the hanger to get a wire through. The cable routing hardware under the BB for the FD cabling will also be getting the dremel taken to it. So might lose 30-50g between the 2.

The last of the parts are here! That 54t chainring is comical 😂 hoping it works with a 12 speed chain.

Any suggestions for one with a 54t option? The only one I am seeing is Garbaruk. Wasn't thinking about the decreased internal chain width when i bought the ring. Good thing I needed a 54t for my TT bike too.

Yeah garbaruk would be my suggestion, love their products, great chainrings and cassettes.
Certainly give that stone chainring a shot first

Good news! The chainring works with the 12s chain! Got all the di2 bits synced up and moving today too. Our team is sponsored by the shop building the bike so we are going to do a "dream builds" style video with a local videographer to promote the shop, team and my personal sponsors. Hoping to have it buttoned up in time to ride some of the festive 500 on!

After a small delay, The bike is done! Currently running a few parts that I had laying around just to get it up and running. Will probably lose 2-300g in its final state.

8.3kg with Garmin Rally pedals and a cage. Also currently running an 11-30 ultegra cassette while I wait on the 11-32 PrestaCycle cassette. I got one of the defective ones that "clicks" on one of the gears.

Now for the fun stuff. I had a local videographer shoot the build to do a "dream build" style video. My team is sponsored by the shop that built the bike so we wanted to do something to give back. The videographer shot a few stills for me to post and he said "the stills aren't great, I'm a much better videographer." If thats the case, the video is going to be next level. One thing I do want to change is going to black side walls. The tan is just too much for this build with all the other color going on. All my bikes have been black, so the tan walls were really the accent before. Now I feel they take away from the rest of the awesome touches and colors on the build.

I did get the chance to ride the bike up and down the street a few times. The new 8100 brakes are pretty sweet. The feel around the contact point is amazing. The 9100 brakes I am used to have great modulation once you get contact and start braking but can be a bit like a light switch when squeezing the lever at first. These have a much more gentle initial bite, but all of the same power. The bike itself is for sure stiff enough for what I am doing. Hoping for some better weather during the festive 500 to get a better feel for it.

The bike for sure passes all my tests with flying colors. Surpisingly comfortable for an Al frame. Don't think I'm really missing out on much aero wise, as everything else I do is optimized (position, cloths, narrow bars, good wheels and tires). Did a few 1300W sprints and the frame is for sure not a noodle.
