So I have really enjoyed my Cervelo S5 disc and my Litespeed Cherohala but neither are all that light. With my S5 having almost 35,000 miles on it and getting a little long in the tooth, I decided it was time to look for something new to me and exciting/differnt to what I already have. Shortly after starting to look an this frame popped up and I pulled the trigger!

Current plan is to build with DA 9170 with light yet not overly exotic parts like an Extralite Hyper Stem, Prologo Dimension Nack, Quarq D1 crank and D4 power meter, Look Keo Carbon Blades, Farsport Ultralight Ferders w/RD230 hub, ect. End goal is somewhere around 6.5kg fully built for a 56cm frame.

Frame should be here early next week. Really excited for this build and hoping it will help me push through all this winter training.

Well the intial phase of the build is done! To get this rolling I had to settle for using a 105 cassette, a boat anchor of a stem, an old steel rail saddle I have as a backup and my Light Bicycle AR56s.

Current weight is 7.1kg with cages, pedals and wahoo mount. Up next is a carbon rail saddle, a extralite hyper stem and a presta cycle steel cassette. Hoping those will get me to 6.8kg!

We'll phase 2 arrived yesterday! 1163g for the set! Just waiting on tires to get the bike rolling on the new wheels. Will be using revoloop ultra race tubes, a presta cycle 11-27 cassette, galfer wave rotors and American classic time keeper tires. Should be a reduction of almost 500g!

In the mean time I have also upgraded to an enve road stem with the integrated out in front and a carbon rail prologo dimension. The bike has to go to the shop for a new rear brake hose and I should get a weight for it all put together tomorrow!

First ride last night on the Feder 35s. Almost 40 miles, unfortunantly, not enough climbing. It was super gusty and I was wearing a pretty flappy jacket so no real indication on how different speed wise these are to my LB AR56s, but boy are these fun to ride! The instant spin up and response to acceleration is just incredible. No flex noticed but no max effort sprints either. Cross wind performance was excelent.

I enjoyed the ride from the American Classic Time Keepers + Revoloop Ultra Race. Pretty supple for a narrow 25mm tire (measure about 27.2mm at 80psi). I usually ride 28mm Veloflex Coras Evos with latex tubes at 70psi

The Galfer rotors were perfectly true out of the package and bedded in fine.

Last but not least the Presta Cycle cassette shifts pretty well, not quite as good as Dura Ace, but acceptable.

New weight is 6.6kg, Finally UCI illegal!

What bottle cages are you running and are the bottles we see in the pic larger diameter than the Camelback Podiums.

Those bottles look like Specialized purist bottles, which are the same dia. as any normal cycling water bottle.

Just standard 500ml bottles and some "Amazon special" bottle cages (probably an ali express cage that amazon stocked). They weigh like 18g each i think. Got 2 of them for like $25

Scale shot and some updated reports on the wheels/tires/rotors
SL6 4.jpg
(there is probably 0.01kg or dust and sweat on the bike after riding a gravel path 40 miles home from a local crit)

Really growing to enjoy these wheels. They are just more fun to ride on a daily basis than my AR56s. So far about 500 miles on them with no issues. The roads around me aren't great so these see some abuse and occasional gravel path use. Even being only 35mm deep they aren't slow at normal road speeds. They do seem a hair less stiff than my other wheels with 24 spokes.

Tires are also pretty nice. I think these roll with similar RR numbers to most other high end road tires. I road about 40 miles of crushed gravel path with out any cuts or flats. Until we see RR numbers from silica or BRR I'm not going to put these on my race wheels but I certianly will keep buying them for the climbing wheels at the price they are offered at.

The galfer rotors arrived true, have stayed true and brake well enough that I really notice no difference from the XTR rotors on my gravel bike or TRP rotors on my other wheels.

The combo certianly isn't slow.

So, after a year of racing, I wound up retiring this bike as I am now riding for SBC. As I built other bikes and friends needed parts, this poor thing was stripped down to just a stem, frameset and saddle. As my State Undefeated is 1x12 with a 54T chainring, I am in need of something with a FD for a trip to Majorca as well as a few other training rides/trips this fall.

So this is getting re-built with some interesting new parts... More to come as the rest of parts roll in.
