Also, can you make an exact replica of the Basso stem out of carbon and ti? asking for a friend.
I think the cost of even serially produced stem will be quite high (if not the highest) and copy of Basso stem will require hours of engineering work, costy 3d printing, moulds for custom carbon part... So yeah, of course I can do it, but it will cost thousands $ :D
I will let currie have first dibs then.

Almost ready with the cork saddle.
Really dampens vibrations from the road damn well, used it for 2 weeks to commute without bibs (1 hour long ride twice a day) - felt very nice, I'd say even unexpectedly nice. Now bought laser to engrave the logo on the cork (We've made a new logo so here it is).
PU lacquer seams to work nicely doesn't make the cork harder and allows no wear on the cork at least for now. Also no moisture adsorption noticed.
Ordered couple of squre meters of cork for cnc-milling more pads, so hope to make a relatively big batch very soon
What seat clamp do you have on your bike?

It Tune Wurger Seatclamp

Unfortunately they dont produce it anymore.
Usually I'm the first to through some shit at Tune products, especially the ones made from composites (IMHO the quality is almost the worst from what I've seen), but this seatclamp is just beautiful piece of engineering. Really great part and works perfect despite looking fragile.
I think it was a bit too expensive to produce for them.

Yeah, I even thought of making a part like this because Tune stopped making those clamps and they are hard to find now. I think it is a bit "overengineered" for a seatclamp which is usually meant to be cheap and insignificant part, but here we have 2 carbon loops and 2 cnc-machined alu parts (along with the smallest bolt possible). It looks clean and small.
So its one of my favorite parts on a bike :D

There would potentially be a market for it. I know I would sign up for it. I have searched far and wide looking for a low profile -12 or -17 carbon stem that is light. It doesn't exist. Perhaps the SL7 stem comes the closest, but they are like hens teeth in 120 length.

*f##k*, I really googled "Hens teeth" to understand the meaning :D My biology teacher would be proud of me.

I see a bit of a engineering problem here: low stack = low stiffness. There is no way around it, its just geometry. And combined with quite an angle and length it would be hard to make it really lightweight.

You have to compensate with material for geometry.

A Basso fan might aswell buy the new combo from Basso. It's probably better if a -10 offering is working.

Hey everybody!
I posted 3d printed titanium parts for the stem some time ago and absolutely forgot to show finished prototype:

The weight is around 100g for 110mm stem. Its still a lot of work to be done and stem will be completely remodelled before it hit the serial production, but its nice at least to ride something yourself :D

It would be really-really weird if a product from a certain company wont be compatible with another product which is meant to be used with a 1st one from the same company😂
Like having 31.8mm handlebar and 25,4mm stem😉
