Thanks! But not sure i'm going on that direction. Just a solid light weight build for now.
Engenear's aethos thread is the one to watch.
Thanks for the plug! Slowly working through the fine details (and letting my credit card recover a little
)

Can you save any weight On these parts straight away?
Sent from my MAR-LX1B using Tapatalk
Replace 3x steel bolts to titanium might save 5g
And replace the derailleur hanger with a direct mount.
Thanks to that picture I can estimate my bare frame to be about 578g

I don't really like Specialized as a brand; particularly since the curved a top tube on a Tarmac. Nor do I like discs; particularly since they add weight, complexity and lack additional functionality. I don't care much that it's sales are high (my favorite bike is a SS); helps keep costs down and quality up.
Having said that, 570 grams on a no weight limit passing all quality controls has impressed me. Specialized banged the table with this one. The color and looks are also nice.
Looking forward to this build.

I wonder what the cost would be if Specialized had all their frames made in the USA!?
I still think the price is bizarre for a frame made in Taiwan.
The standard size Argonaut is 6000USD and all metal parts are now made out of titanium. It's not as light, but the price is creeping closer between the two.
I thought about argonaut, festka, and bastion. I'm not saying spez is better, but I don't think no other brands spend like specialized on r&d, quality control, and testing. I know it's mass produced, I never pay full retail. The tarmac geometry also fits me like a glove and I'm faster. Weight is also important to me.
To me Specialized is boring. Alot of these bikes will float on second hand market as soon as something new is around the corner.
However, i don't say this to say it's a blah blah bike. I'm not that stupid. It's mostly the fact that it's too many of them.
I don't care much for Specializeds marketing. The nail in the coffin was their steady crap of Aero is everything, after that Aethos appear.
You can for sure be aware of a new bike as UCI has changed the rules. We'll see how soon something that picks up after Venge.
I won't say more than, i will never buy a Specialized.
To be honest I didn't like specialized as a brand. As you said they are many of them. But after giving it a try I got hooked because it(tarmacs) really rides well. I didn't care anymore if its a cookie cutter as long it makes me fast. In our part of the country there are a lot of specialized bikes, but I'm the only person who owns a s-works sl7, less than 5 the whole country. I'm also the only one who has a s-works aethos at the moment.
There's no forever in bikes, I intend to change every 2 years, can't wait for the s-works sl8, a sl7 with aethos tech.
It's great that so many get happy on a Specialized. But there's alot of bikes out there.
I have done one sin!
I bought a set of Turbo cotton. However they're replaced by Vittoria Corsa which is better.
Bikes:
Ax Lightness Vial EVO Race (2019.01.03)
Open *UP* (2016.04.14)
Paduano Racing Fidia (kind of shelved)
Ex bike; Vial EVO D, Vial EVO Ultra, Scott Foil, Paduano ti bike.

I know I've ridden a lot, but I still look for specialized s-works tarmac and end up selling those other bikes.
Good for you.

Love the fact that merida (aka specalized) had blessed us with a proper threaded BB on this rig.
Made in Taiwan is something that is almost as good as made in Japan. I have seen first hand the manufacturing scene in Taichung and it's proper nice.
Very impressive weights from extralight too, that beast looks tight!
the future looks good for sub 550g medium frames, what a time to be alive.
