Why do you say XCR does not like to be exposed? I was under the impression stainless steel was like titanium in that it doesn't need to be painted to survive the elements - is that not true? Or does it require some other sort of surface treatment? What issues have you had with your Saffron?? Asking as I'm considering a stainless frame myself....CustomMetal wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 10:52 amTom is not a huge fan of XCR. It is heavier than spirit and not as fun to ride in his opinion... I would paint it anyway as XCR doesn't like to be exposed as I am discovering with my Saffron. Besides the saffron already ticks the need for a stainless bike

How are these frames coming along? Have you been hiding pics of all 3 or are they still under construction?

Like every one at the moment Tom has been hit with delays thanks to COVID and brexit.. the printed parts for my gravel build are in customs so should be with Tom soon to be built. The other will come in time. As always I am happy to wait and not rush perfection

I'm really curious on how the road bike will be. I sent Sturdy an email and asked for price for a custom stem, but he never replied.CustomMetal wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 9:34 amLike every one at the moment Tom has been hit with delays thanks to COVID and brexit.. the printed parts for my gravel build are in customs so should be with Tom soon to be built. Perhaps he just focus on customers who buys framesets or complete bikes

I patiently wait. Tom makes no bones about the fact that most of his components don't make financial sense as individual items as they are so expensive to build. It's the reason he really just does rolling chassiswheelsONfire wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 7:06 pmI'm really curious on how the road bike will be. I m waiting on a Fiadh as well….but I fully understand that currently timelines are just guidelines. It be ready when it is ready……and until then I can ride my other bikes.
On the plus side …. My Speedvagen Titanium Disc that ordered beginning of last year is finally in the process of being put together. It is all about being patient.

Well you are more lucky than me... I´ve sold my road bike and now suffer on a heavy steel Genesis Croix de fer I wanted to be patient, but just needed that "new bike day" already, so I finally pushed the button for a small modest-price funky project - a bamboo fixed gear that I will construct myself But even this one is now held by the customsCustomMetal wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 7:05 amI have other bikes and Tom looks after me so I don't rush him
