A simple trick for aligning bars is putting a level on the end of the bars.

That looks about right :thumbup: I know it's a pain to re-wrap bar tape but you could try moving the shifters up the bars slightly, not more than a centimeter or so, just enough to get a nice smooth transition from bar to shifter.

thank you! I have an appointment with my LBS to button up a few things, ordered new tape too so it all works out :D

+1, I love the look of early-mid 2000's bikes and this one is another fine example of how well they can hold up.

Just a quick thing worth noting re: the saddle - if you have to adjust any saddle beyond a few degrees away from horizontal it's probably the wrong shape. There's no harm in experimenting with bike-fit so long as you think carefully about what you're doing.
