some more stuff came in the post. So 140g saved just from these two...

9070 RD short cage at 215g

9070 shifters at 230g

old 6770 RD at 270g

old 6770 shifters at 315g

So I need to shorten some of these cables, but all the wiring + internal junction + front 3 port junction + internal battery, comes in at 110g

OK, the frame came in!... I decided to size down, to a 54cm. 2013 Supersix Evo Himod. i wanted something with internal di2 routing.
Image

frame with bottle cage bolts and bottom bracket bearings in place is 855g (anyone want to guess what the bearings weigh?)
Image

fork is 315g
Image

headset/expander plug is 55g
Image

seatpost collar is 15g
Image

so far I'm pretty thrilled as the new frameset is a solid 270g lighter than the old one..

I'd change the seatpost anyway; I envisage a slipping head clamp and saddle in your future, plus you'll have to faff about swapping that clamp to accommodate the carbon rails on your saddle. I used a side calmping single bolt seatpost once: never again!

I have more parts on the way, not much cabling since it's di2.
In my limited experience, brake cable housing alone makes the biggest difference. There's potentially 20-40g there. Still worth considering if you're chasing all the grams.

started building up the new frame, still missing a few parts in the post.

old DA 7900 11-28 10spd cassette came in at 185g
Image

new DA 9100 11-28 11spd wasn't too much heavier at 195g
Image

however this SS evo HM frame appeared to have some integrated brake nut in the fork already (not sure if that's OEM or previous owner added it). Along with the removal of the 10spd spacer from the freehub, i saved an additonal 12+g, so it's pretty much a wash

ok some more parts came, I'm pretty close to having enough to finish the build.

old 6770 di2 FD came in at 165g
IMG_20191226_154557.jpg
9070 DA FD came in at 105g
IMG_20191226_154716.jpg

swapped pedals with my aero bike.
the old 6700 ultegra pedals were actually a lot lower than advertised.. I don't get it, most people list them between 315-317g but mine were only 260g :noidea:

9100 DA pedals are 235g

Those bearings (6806-2rs) are in alloy cups!
Exactly the same as what I just knocked out of a low mod that i recently stripped!

Mine went from 905g to 823g - so they weigh 82g

wow! so this frame came in at 773g with the RD hanger. not bad! I'm terrified of riding anything lighter than this.

Yep, very good weight! Also, my hanger weighs 10g which is same as yours!

You should keep an eye out for one of the newer 2016 forks - mine weighs 238g and i still need to cut 5mm off the steerer! Thats stripped, so no paint!

That Matt finish is at least 100g. A carbon ti steerer plug is 22g and there top cap is light. You'll save over 25g.

Ok, got the bike together with a few last finishing parts. Weight so far? 6870g. Does that count, or do I need to hit 6800 or less?

I'm so close, need to shave 71g. Right now the logical thing to do is replace the heavy DA skewers, but I like the clamping strength and stability of these. Unless I can find some sturdy internal cam skewers, I might end up with the DT ones and that'd only save 20-30g max.

Since I haven't been having good luck with brakes, I'm thinking of just hunting down a set of TRP 970SL. That should get me under. But I'm practically at my goal - a just barely weight weenie build, with all reliable mainstream off the shelf parts (mostly used at that!), nothing exotic, nothing hard to find/hard to service, and not having to cut or hack anything. (btw, mad respect to those of you who do a lot of custom tuning, maybe I'll attempt all that when I get tired of being at 6.8kg)
IMG_20191228_151351.jpg
I had several snafus...

1. my ultegra pedals ended up being lighter (by quite a bit) so the 9100 SPD didn't save much weight
2. I ordered a pair of used BR-9000s, and they ended up being the same exact weight as my ultegra 6700 brakes. I suspect its because the previous owner swapped out the brake pad holders with some mismatched stuff. It wouldn't have saved much weight anways, but I'm going to try and get a set of DA or KCNC brake pads+holders soon
3. I was counting on some Conti supersonic tubes to drop a ton of weight... and they did, for about 5 minutes. shortly after mounting the first one despite taking all the precautions, it blew up inside the tire. I had a few more but because this is supposed to be a reliable off the shelf build, i opted to go with different tubes which minimized the weight gains...

So i noticed on the new frame there was some tire rub on the inside chain stay. I switched from 700x25 GP4000s to 7000x23 to help with potential clearance issues, and saved a bit of weight in the process.

old 700x25 tires at 450g

700x23 at 395g

old vittoria tubes, 175g for 2
IMG_20191228_173107.jpg
new specialize light weight tubes AKA the cocaine tubes at 145g
IMG_20191227_182517_MP.jpg
lizardskin DSP 2.5mm at 75g. i didn't end up using the slightly heavier bar end plugs and reused some light fizik ones i had, plus i didn't use all the tape so I am estimating maybe 65-70g in tape total?
