Ridenow innertubes came today, so got those swapped over.

Did my very scientific weighing method - me on the scales, then me + bike.

Got 4 different results lol, 6.5kg, 6.6kg, 6.7kg, 6.8kg.

Lets call it 6.65kg roughly

Picked up some luggage scales to try be a bit more accurate with weighing in.

Pretty chuffed. I'll pretend they're accurate and live in sweet ignorance if not

Berk Lupina padded 150mm purchased last night during my traditional evening bike part googling.

Should drop 65g over the Antares R1 i've been using, and I can hopefully sell that on for a bit of money back.

Hopefully my bum agrees with the new saddle!

Picked up a cheap frame taht i'm going to sand down and lacquer over the bare carbon. Will keep me busy during the winter!

Made a start on the forks yesterday. This look about right for those of you in the know?

Question about hte Hypers : is it the new 2023, 21mm internal width wheelset ? I realy like them - maybe 35mm or 38 would suit the bike better cause it's a really all to go bike and not really an aero bike. Can you please leave a review if you have riden a few 100 miles.

Hey up dude,

Yeah, they're the 2023 r45 model.

I've done probably 300-400 miles on them now - mix of flat riding, 20%+ climbs, very windy rides etc so think I've got a good experience of what they're like.

They do feel fast on the flats, and they also sound great when you get a bit of speed going.

Braking quality I've found is decent, well, as decent as possible for carbon wheels. In the wet they're just as terrible as most other carbon clinchers, at least until the pads clear the braking surface. Dry performance is great, no complaints with them. I did a ride last week in the Yorkshire Dales and some of the descents are super steep so you have to basically brake for the entirety of the decent or the bike will get away from you. They performed fine, bit loud after a minute or so of continuous hard braking, but my visions were the same.

The biggest complaint I have, and it's a big one is wind performance - they feel down right sketchy in wind. The front wheel is super twitchy and it's kinda scary when you're going quick and the front of the bike is squirreling round.

I do wish I went for the 38mm variants (mainly for how I think they'd suit my bike better),however overall I'm still very happy with the wheels. I'd buy them again given the opportunity.

Berk Lupina finally arrived a month after ordering through Sigma - think they said they were having trouble sourcing.

The new, used Supersix evo frame was sent off to a carbon fibre repair specialists to get the tyre rub damage and some chain damage sorted before i make a start on stripping it back to carbon. Want it to be tip top before i sink hours into it

Made a start on sanding the frame today.

I sent it off to get some tyre rub checked as it looked quite deep, but turns out it was fine. However, it was deemed that what i thought was small damage on the chainstay was infact structural, so that was repaired.

Can see why it costs so much for somebody to do it, just that toptube took me best part of 3 hours and it still needs more work. Hey, will keep me busy!

Yeah its a lot of work but worth it. I would cover the BB bearings - I used discs of cardboard and tape to stop them getting gummed up with paint and clearcoat flakes

Good point, i'll get something made up to cover them. I wasn't overly bothered about them initially as the BB needs changing, but can't hurt

It's not too bad actually, worked out a process with the different sandpaper grits that seems to be working

Spent another 3 hours on it yesterday, think that makes it around 9 total.

What a messy job it is though - rewarding though seeing what lies underneath the layers













Apologies for the quality of the photos. The whole frame will need another going over with 1200 to get out anything i've missed, any imperfections etc. Plenty of paint to get through before that point though! Looks like it has loads of scratches on the carbon, but it's just residue from the rag i've been using to wipe it down between sanding

Another 3 hours spent on it yesterday. Feels like progress has slowed down now, mainly because lack of time with work, but also because the smaller tubes are a bit more fiddly to sand back
