looking great; i really cant wait to get the DA12 stuff on my bike; i have been toying with the idea of replacing my frame to an S5/SL7/SLR01 but the frame is just so good that i think i will wait another year and see what the next iterations of the S5 and SL8 are like.

With your Power Meter i would just got the peddle route to get your bike weight down!

Looks great! One thing - your build list says 109 links. Should be 106?

Marginal Gains..

@Lucendi made some cool 3D printed things for my bike. Top skills.

Replace the aluminium stem cover (serves no mechanical purpose, everything is within the stem) with a 3D One

The round thing in the pic below

Saving a massive 6.2g - (Al 8.5g - 3D 2.3g)

Replace the Carbon Bar End plugs with 3D printed ones

I got the last 2 the guy had (had to buy it in a pair, so I do have 1 spare). If you are in the US you will be able to find it somewhere, but minimum order quantity is usually quite high.

I can sell my spare with the corresponding Ti stem clamp bolt M6x45mm if you are interested? PM me

Hi! I have the same bike model and was hoping if I can buy these bolts? Thanks

So...

Some updates, as part of my yearly strip and rebuild..

Cranks:
Sanded/Polished Quarq Cranks (The logo's have always annoyed me!)

Image

Savings 4.3g

Stem:
After conversations with Cervelo, who advised it was OK to cut down (as you do when you buy a smaller than 54cm frame), I removed approx. 25mm of the Quill.

Image

Image

The stem weight went from 234.6 to 218.2

Changed out the M5 x 100 Compression bolt and the M6 x 45 stem bolt for TI versions (after much searching for suitable replacements)
Image

Image

Image

Image

Compression Bolt: 14.6 > 7.7
Stem Bolt:11 > 5.9

Quill Removal: 16.4g
Bolt Changes: 12g

Total Savings 28.4g

Bars:
Removed approx. 20mm from both ends (have never grabbed that part of the bar)

Image

272 > 263.2

Savings 8.8g

Cassette:
Dura-Ace CS-9100 11:30 > BDOP 1 Piece Steel 11-28

Image

206 > 179.5 (185.7 with Lockring)

Total Savings 26.5g

Still to come, Wheels and a few other bits, also doing a bit of friction reduction at the moment..

Sorry,

Do you have the DIN for the Bolts? Thanks, I am having problems looking for them here in Germany

Hi the bolts are specified in the S3 Manual:
The stem expander one is m6 x 45 (1mm pitch)
The headset compression one is M5 x 100 (0.8mm pitch) - I sold my spare one of these + they are fairly hard to find..

Hi! Thank you for the reply.

Just one question, do I still need the m5x100 if I cut the Stem 25mm? Thanks again

Yes, the fork has the wedge component, cutting the stem removes the part that the fork doesn’t wedge into, therefore it makes no difference to the bolt lengths

So updated a few parts..

Changed out the GXP Crank Arms to DUB (and sanded/polished to remove the Red logo's)

Image

and the corresponding change to BB as well.

Total Saving - 119.4g

Added a CS OSPW:

Image

Total Gain 27.9g

Plus changes to Stem Cap, Bar Plugs, TI Bolts and adding RS-801-S Sprint Shifters

And now, finally, it is UCI Illegal!

Image

Nice.
