The stripes make is %200 better IMO. I'm not a fan of showing up to a race or club ride - and everyone who has the same bikes - their paint is all identical. Aside from maybe a name decal - no originality. I paint my S5 a few times per year - sometimes solid colour, or stripes, or maple leafs etc. I get bored easily - and your bike - is not boring

Nice!

Is it the paint process which you are interested in (cos I know very little about that) or the experience as a whole?
Yep, the process. have been contemplating stripping and painting one of my frames. trying to decide whether my desire to do it, to give it a whirl will outweigh my desire to continue doing it once I've started!
And those guys have said - the stripes maketh the bike!

I like it though I am partial to white bikes
So was I. It was the old white R3 that originally caught my eye.
Black bikes do it for me now

You will return to white bikes again. It is a cycle that I went through
